Nestlé FranceLighting electricity savings: 520 MWh/year Electricity use reduction: nearly 90 %

The intervention was carried out in the Nestlé headquarters in Noisiel, where the illumination in the atrium and patio was modernised. 276 lights of 2x36 W with honeycomb reflectors and ferromagnetic ballasts were exchanged with 100 lamps of 1x28 W with aluminum refelctors and electronic ballast. The durability of the lights has been increased by 50 %.

The indoor lighting at the bank branches in Cloche d‘Or, Kirchberg and Rodange was improved by installing L.E.D luminaires instead of halogen or 38mm-diametre fluorescent tubes.

Prokind Scholengroep is a school network in the city of Spijkenisse, in the area of Rotterdam. The lighting in the schools De Veenvlinder, De Horst, De Piramide and Vogelenzang was modernised resulting in a reduction of 12,936 tons of CO2 emmissions per year.

The port of Bruges-Zeebrugge is managed by the"Maatschappij van de Brugse Zeevaartinrichtingen N.V." (abbreviated MBZ), which has modernised illumination during a complete remodelling andrenovation of the 4th, 6th and 7th floors of the“Vandammehuis”. Within the scope of the renovation it was decided to install high-frequency lighting with presence detectors and daylight sensitivity.

Unibail-Rodamco is the leading listed European commercial property operator, investor anddeveloper active in shopping centres, offices and convention facilities. Within GreenLight improvement interventions were carried out in 10 shopping centres: Albacentre (Albacete), Los Arcos (Sevilla), Barnasud (Barcelona), Bonaire (Valencia), Equinqccio (Madrid), Les Glories (Barcelona), Habaneras (Alicante), Maquinista (Barcelona), Parquesur (Madrid), Vallsur (Valladolid).

City of Tilburg, The Netherlands Lighting electricity savings: 303 MWh/year Electricity use reduction: 44 % Tilburg renovated a large number of old outdoor luminaries equipped with a TLS 20W lamp, which cause specifically high maintenance costs due to the short lamp lifetime. One renovation project is called “LED’sGO” because LED have replaced the old luminaries. In addition futher interventions were carried out on the CityRing and Heikantlanan as well as implementing “lighting onf demand”.

Lighting electricity savings: 38 MWh/year Electricity use reduction: more than 67 % The community has modernized ths street lighting in the inner town area. Especially, the illumination of the market square was not adequate. The construction consisting of 124 light points equipped with sodium and mercury-vapourlamps which a capacity of 75 to 165 W have been substituted by 64 light pointsusing LED technology with capacity from 26 to 50 W. Thus 7.688 kg of CO2 emmission can be saved annually.

City of Zaprešić, Croatia

Lighting electricity savings: 1712 MWh/year Electricity use reduction: 57 % In 2009 the City of Zaprešić started modernization and new installations of public lighting in the wider area of the city. The old system was based on high pressure mercury bulbs, which were exchanged with high pressure sodium and ceramic metal halide bulbs with high efficiency electronic ballasts for power regulation during late night hours. The first phase of the project has been finished in 2010 with the exchange of 20 % of all public luminaries and bulbs. Average lamp before (left) and

Lighting electricity savings: 20 694 MWh/year Electricity use reduction: more than 59 % From January 2004 until December 2011 130 retail stores in Belgium have undergone improvements in lighting. The number of fluorescence and metalhaide luminaires has been reduced and LED fixtures used systematically to replace standard halogen accent lighting.

Type of building: Office Reduction in energy consumption*: more than 90 % Energy savings*: 22.6 MWh/year The new construction is a one-story office building with a capcity of 7-8 workplaces in a timber frame construction with very high insulation. Heating is supplied by a heat pump and heat recovery in ventilation. On the roof a PV system is installed (19.32 kW).

Type of building: Office Reduction in energy consumption*: 75 % Energy savings*: 1 886 MWh/year A new office and commerce building located on the block Kv Riga 2, situated in North Värtahamnen (Värta harbour) in Stockholm. There are large air-handling units equipped with heat exchangers, heating and cooling. The pressure controlled air handling units together with active air diffusers in the ceiling save a lot of energy. Heating is produced in a nearby local energy centre.

Type of building: Nursery school Reduction in energy consumption*: 66.7 % Energy savings*: 96 MWh/year The company creche is a zero emmission building for 60 children using amonst others well dimensioned heating pumps with power regulation, a solar thermal plant, high efficient luminaires, improved insulation of envelope components, detailed calculations to avoid thermal bridges.

The multi-purpose facility consists of five floors covering a commercial part (supermarket, bars) and a business part (municipal administration, post office). The energetic concept of this low energy facility includes the implementation of efficient heat pumps, high efficient heat recovery as well as the use of geothermal energy.

The American Heart Institute in Nicosia is a newly built green hospital designed to utilize day lighting to the maximum, highly insulated and the technical systems include among others a 100 kWp PV plant, geothermal heating and cooling, super highly efficient lighting and a central building management system.

Type of building: Office Reduction in energy consumption*: 54,5 % Energy savings*: 579 MWh/yearA double glass curtain facade, with high sun control glasses, will result in 65 % energy absorption allowing night ventilation. Rain water will be utilized to supply all 1000 m2 of plantation, also on vertical walls. An efficient and smart lighting system is employed. PV panels will produce the required energy to illuminate the outer green areas and water fall operation. A solar thermal plant will cover the entire hot water heating in bathrooms and pantries.

A pellet heating and panel radiators have been installed as well as a central ventilation system with a ≥ 85%; heat recovery. Lighting has been improved as well as the building envelope using 20 cm mineral foam boards. Also the roof and basement have been insulated and triple-pane windows installed.

Installation of a ventilation system with highly efficient heat recovery and low power consumption. The heating system will be replaced in a few years, when a new biomass district heating is available. Building envelop and lighting were improved. The contract for electricity was changed to “green electricity” (100% water power).

Conference center containing a hotel, conference facilities and restaurant located at Saltsjöbaden just outside of Stockholm. A new geothermal heat pump system and the oil burner is running on rape seed oil supply heating and hot water. The heating and hot water systems was modified and enhanced in efficiency.

The building C3 on the site at Grenoble underwent considerable refurbishments and renovations of the technical installations improving efficiency as well as working conditions. High thermal and energetic performances were achieved taking into account also acustic comfort, health and accessibility.

Surrounded by peaks of almost 3000 Núria’s sanctuary is a popular place of pilgrimage. Sant Josep is one of the five buildings comprising a hotel, exhibition hall, restaurant and picnic area now having a large geothermal heating, high efficient lighting and insulation as well as high performance energy management system.

The company is a public human water drinking treatment company, located in the north of Portugal, near Barcelos, which a high amout of costs and consumption in electricty related to pumps. With the implementation of more efficient eletrical drives and pumps as well as putting to work management policies related to more efficiency, considerable amounts of electricty were saved.

The prodcution site at Melfi belonging to the FIAT group offers working space for 7,000 employees constructing Lancia Y and Fiat Punto with a annual output of 450,000 vehicles – one of the most productive automotive sites worldwide. At the site, variable speed drives for electrival motors were installed resulting in a impressive overal saving of electricy.

Type of company: Steel and metal industrySavings in energy consumption: 7 600 MWh/year

TenarisSilcotub is the leading Romanian producer of small diameter seamless steel pipes used in the mechanical industry, automotive, oil and gas, chemical and petrochemical as well as the power industry. Motor Challeneg activities were focussed especially on measures to improve the system for compressed air such as installing high efficient compressors, optimising distribution and preventing leaks as well as more efficient end use devices.
