Church family and friends
Let me begin my letter to you this day with praise and thanksgiving On Sunday evening
during First Joy we were blessed by four incredible testimonies Donna Burt shared about
Godrsquos faithfulness through answered prayer and through his promise to bless those who
obediently tithe Jerry Dowis shared about the spiritual journey that he and Jane have
been through since her stroke several years ago He thanked the church and praised God
for the prayers of godly friends Kim Carey opened her heart and described to us the
challenge of leaving family behind in Alabama and coming to serve the Lord at First
Lyman She reminded us that Godrsquos way is always the right way and Hersquoll take care of all
our needs Finally Ashley Gosnell spoke concerning their family adoption She challenged
us to consider the fact that God has adopted us into His family Based upon this truth we
should be mindful of the ministry to orphans through prayer financial support and
adoption
ldquoFather I praise you for your goodness and mercy You are so faithful to your promises
You always come through and meet our needs I thank you for your patience and for
answered prayers I also thank you for these four individuals and their families What
amazing testimonies they have Thank you Father for using them to impact so many
others for your Kingdom We love youhellipIn Jesusrsquo name amenrdquo
There are several important things for you to remember First this Sunday Brian Lark will
be with us for our Global Missions Sunday Brian will be sharing with us about his call to
plant a church We will be receiving a special offering Sunday that will go to Global
Missions Second on Sunday June 5 we will worship through the Lordrsquos Supper Later
that afternoon we will gather at Lake Cooley for food fun and fellowship Make a notehellip
itrsquos usually on a Wednesday but not this year And finally be faithful to the 40 Days of
Prayer and Fasting This is a vital part of what God is doing in the life of our church We
need everyone seeking the Lord together
I love you and appreciate you so much What an incredible church family we have Please
be praying for our deacons as they diligently minister to our church body Pray also for
the many guests that are seeking the Lordrsquos guidance concerning church membership
God bless
Pastor Scott

One Final Note
2 Cor 912-13 This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs of Godrsquos people but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God Because of the service by which you have proved yourselves men will praise God for the obedience that accompanies your confession of the gospel of Christ and for your generosity in sharing with them and with everyone else Paul wrote that to his friends at Corinth in response to an offering they had taken for the Christians in Jerusalem who had fallen on hard times In hard times our compassion for those who are struggling magnifies While this is a natural human response it is especially true for Christians We love to meet the needs of those who are down The difficult thing for us to remember is that while physical needs may be more immediately pressing meeting spiritual needs has the greatest and most lasting impact While the tornados in Tuscaloosa broke hundreds of houses I assure you that broken hearts outnumber houses ten times over Your generosity in the form of gift cards and cash will enable some local churches to meet physical needs in Jesusrsquo name You see FEMA can give you a place to sleep but only Jesus can give you the peace to sleep The Red Cross can give you a meal but only Jesus offers the bread of life Americorps can remove the trees from your yard but only Jesus can remove the burdens from your heart The church has a unique place in disaster relief We offer what the world offers and what the world canrsquot offer ldquohellip the gospel of Christ and for your generosityrdquo Helping churches help people advance the Kingdom Thank you for your ministry
