I’m so excited to share with you about how God has showed off once again through His people. On Sunday morning we had an awesome service. Dr. Cleatus Blackmon, Director of Missions for the Greer Baptist Association was with us, we observed the Lord’s Supper, and we received our pledge cards for the Global Mission Strategy. Let me share with you the response to the Global Missions Offering. The 2011 goal for our Global Missions (not including the Cooperative Program giving or giving to the Greer Baptist Association) is $24,000. On Sunday morning, we received 60 financial pledges, totaling $22,623. This includes weekly, monthly, quarterly and one-time commitments to give. In addition to these 60 were numerous others continuing to pray about how God would have them to give. If we now follow through with our commitment to give and give faithfully to our general budget, we will give nearly $80,000 to missions in 2011. Praise the Lord! More importantly than the financial pledge is the commitment that over 75 families made to pray about participating in missions endeavors through the church. That’s a remarkable statement of faith. I praise God for the openness of His people to involve themselves in His work. It’s a great time to be a part of First Lyman. God is doing remarkable things. Join us this Sunday morning as we continue our study of Ephesians and Sunday evening as we consider God’s call to each of us to join Him in His mission. I love you and can’t wait to worship with you this week! God bless, Pastor Scott

Musical Notes

The Senior Adult Choir meets for rehearsals on Tuesday at 1000 AM in the choir room We have

some great new music to learn and share including a beautiful musical for the Easter season We already have a few ldquoroad tripsrdquo planned for the spring Come sing with us A good time is had by all

The Adult Choir meets for rehearsal on Wednesdays at 710 PM Our Easter music has just arrived so now is a great time to join the choir OK letrsquos face it There is never a bad time to join the choir

Senior Adults

We are planning a trip to The Explorations in Antiquity Center in LaGrange Georgia on Monday April 4th This is a full scale replica of various locations and activities from Biblical times The tours include an authentic Passover Meal and a ldquoFollow the Crossrdquo walk focusing on the Easter Season The cost for this trip will be $7500 per person Sign up sheets will be available in your Bible Study classes this week

One Final Note

As citizens of the 21st Century we have become acclimated to rapid change and instant gratification Our ldquosmart phonesrdquo allow us to access vast storehouses of information in the blink of an eye Our televisions feature movies and network shows ldquoOn Demandrdquo We can know where our friends are and what they are doing at any given moment just by a short trip to Facebook The upside of this is that we are more connected and better informed than ever The downside is that we are less patient than ever Technology has dramatically changed our expectations We now want crock-pot results in microwave time A lack of patience will cause anger and resentment and give us ldquoan edgerdquo in our dealings with others Thatrsquos why God is so gracious to give us the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 522-23 But the fruit of the Spirit is love joy peace patience kindness goodness faithfulness [23] gentleness self-control against such things there is no law) I donrsquot know how it is in your life but I almost never get an ldquoinstant messagerdquo answer from God And ldquoOn Demandrdquo Forget about it He is far more concerned with developing our character than our convenience and comfort He patiently works to transform us into the image of His Son The refining process is more crock-pot than microwave but the results are far superior Job 2310b hellip When He has tried me I shall come forth as gold
