• Betty was born in Augusta, GA and moved to Central Florida in 1973.

• She graduated from McArthur High in Hollywood, FL, Bethune-Cookman College and UCF.

Betty E. Meeks - 35 Years

• Betty also has a Senior Professional in Human Resources Certification.

• She started with Orange County in 1975 with Community Affairs and got promoted to Program Evaluation Supervisor in 1976.

Betty Meeks - 35 Years

• Betty has worked with the Employment and Training Office of CETA/JTPA, Human Resources, Business Development and is now assigned to the Convention Center.

• She has been promoted to Recruitment Supervisor and is currently the Human Resources Manager at the Convention Center.

• Betty has helped with numerous programs, including: Employing People with Disabilities, SunTrust Homebuyers Program, Minority Resume Bank and a CIP Reengineering Project which won a NACO Award in 1996.

• Betty has two children: Greg and Brandon and 2 grandkids.• In her spare time, she enjoys shopping, reading, fitness and

volunteers her time at the Southside Church of Christ. She is a former member of Harbor House. *

• Velma was hired in 1980 under the CETA Program to work at the Corrections Medical Unit.

• She has been awarded the divisional and departmental Orange Award for Employee of the Month (April 1993).

Velma Pinkard - 30 Years• Velma has been a Certified Professional in

Human Resources since 1999.• She has been married to Melvin for 34 years and

they have four children: Letitia, Stephonse, Shinara, and Melvin; 13 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

• Velma enjoys cooking, collecting miniature tea sets and spending time with her family and friends.*

• Leanne joined Orange County Corrections in 1990 working at the MJB Facility.

• She is currently enrolled in the Certified Public Manager Course.

Leanne Aplanalp - 20 Years• Leanne has received the following awards:

Meritorious Award, Outstanding Service Award (2), Award of Excellence (3), Teamwork Award, and the 2004 Hurricane Ribbon.

• She has earned promotions to Corporal and Sergeant.

• Her son Christopher, 24, is currently serving aboard the aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan based in San Diego and her daughter: Elizabeth, 22, is also in the Navy stationed in Pensacola.

• Leanne’s hobbies include: Reading, writing, cruising on her motorcycle, going to the beach, sports and dancing. *

Joy Ann Morelly 20 Years

• Joy was hired in 1990 to work at Central Booking. ln 1995, she moved to the Main Facility.

• She has also worked at Genesis, Horizon, Phoenix, and the Female Detention Facility.

• She is currently working in the new Booking and Release Center as the Administrative Sergeant.

• Joy was born and raised in Orlando, attended Boone High School and earned her GED. She graduated from the Florida Leadership Academy in 2006.

• Joy was promoted to Corporal in 1995 and Sergeant in 2000.

• In her spare time, Joy is a wedding photographer.

• James was hired in 1985 to work in the Main Facility.

• He was transferred to Horizon for 5 years and then to Whitcomb for 6 years. He’s been with transportation for the past 7 years.

• James has been married to Roberta for 7½ years.

• He has two children: Corey and Chandler.

• James really doesn’t have any hobbies. He just does whatever his wife tells him to do. *

• Limarys was born in San Juan, PR and moved to Orlando in 1990.

• She graduated from the University of PR with a degree in Arts of Education with an emphasis in Special Education.

Limarys Rivera - 20 Years

• Limarys taught at a private preschool and later joined Head Start in Puerto Rico working with hearing and visually impaired children.

• She came to work for Orange County in 1990 as a Pre-School Teacher and was promoted to Resource Teacher in 1993.

Limarys Rivera – 20 Years• Limarys was promoted to Education Coordinator in 1996.• She now helps guide staff with developmental curriculum;

and ensures that federal, state and local guidelines are met.• She is involved with a federal program to promote childhood

literacy. She’s a member of the Head Start Body Start (a National Physical Activity Program) and she’s in the process of becoming a Head Start Federal Reviewer.

• Limarys has been married to Edgardo for 21 years and they have two children: Shereem, 17, and Jan, 16.

• She enjoys road trips and cruising.• Her favorite memories include visiting the Grand Canyon

and meeting people from different Native American tribes.• She volunteers with the youth ministry program at her

church and promotes awareness of autism. *

• Irma was born in Bronx, NY and moved to Puerto Rico when she was 11 years old.

• She graduated from Ramon Vila Mayo High School where she got a Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education.

Irma Luz Hartline 20 Years

• Irma was hired by Orange County in 1990 as an Education Coordinator at Head Start.

• She was promoted to Area Coordinator and later became a Field Operations Supervisor.

• Irma has 45 years of experience as a child care trainer.

Irma Hartline – 20 Years• Irma assists with the annual Guest Reader Week

Program to promote literacy.• She is very grateful for the support and

encouragement she has received from her supervisors over the years.

• Irma has been married to Paul for 41 years, and they have three children: Catherine, 39, Liza, 30, and Andy, 36 and they have one grandchild, Sebastian.

• Irma enjoys spending time with her family and playing dominoes on weekends with friends from her church. *

• Dana was born at the old Orlando Air Force Base. He’s a and graduate of Boone High School and Valencia Community College.

Dana B. McCrystal 30 Years

• He joined Orange County as a Firefighter/Paramedic with the Holden Heights Fire Control District in 1980.

• During his career, he has worked on Rescue Units as a Paramedic; as a Lieutenant on engine companies; on the Squad 1 Special Services Unit and with the Training Division.

Dana McCrystal – 30 Years• Dana comes from a public safety family. His father

is a retired Captain from the Orlando Police Dept. Brother David is a Captain with FHP and brother Darrel is a Lieutenant with Fire Rescue.

• Dana’s children have followed in dad’s footsteps. Daughter Danielle, is a dispatcher with the Sheriff’s Office and son, Alex, is an EMT with Rural Metro Ambulance Service.

• Dana has been married to Lisa for 28 years.• He’s an advisor to the Boy Scouts Explorer

Program, Post #2, and a peer support member on the Critical Incident Stress Management Team.*

• Eric was born in Mildenhall, England as an Air Force son.

• He moved to Central Florida in 1978 and graduated from Satellite High School. He received his paramedic certification from Valencia Community College in 1985.

Eric W. Pruitt - 30 Years

• Eric was hired part-time in 1979 at the Taft Fire Protection District.

• Eric went full time in 1980 and spent two years in Taft before transferring to Station 52 on Sand Lake Road.

Eric Pruitt – 30 Years• Eric worked at Station 52 for 22 years, got promoted

to Engineer in 1989 and moved to Pine Hills. He is now at Station 34.

• Eric has been married to Elaine for 27 years and they have two children: Michael, who is also an OC Firefighter. (His wife, Amanda is in the hiring process to become a Sheriff’s Deputy) and Josh, who attends McKendree University on a football scholarship as a kicker.

• In his spare time, Eric volunteers as special teams coach for the Bishop Moore football team.*

• Joyce is originally from Atlanta, GA and moved to Orlando in 1990.

• She was hired by Fire Rescue to work in the Fire Loss Management Department.

Joyce Elaine Hecimovich 20 Years

• Joyce is a state certified Fire Inspector.• In 1995, she took a position in the Finance Bureau

where she is currently assigned as a Fiscal Coordinator.

• She has been instrumental in the professional development of other employees Finance.

Joyce Hecimovich – 20 Years• Joyce works with accounts payable and

receivables.• She has been married to John, a Fire Engineer, for

17 years and they have two daughters: Wendy and Brandie; along with seven grandchildren.

• Joyce enjoys spending time with her children and family functions.

• Her favorite hobbies are: Traveling and boating. She recently took up baking and is experimenting on her fellow co-workers.

• Joyce plans to work for a few more years before retiring with her husband.*

• Ray was born in East Chicago, IL and moved to Florida in 1988.

• He graduated high school in Littleton, CO and served for 5 years in the Coast Guard as a Telecommunications Specialist.

Raymond A. Ramsey 20 Years

• Ray joined Orange County Fire Rescue as a Dispatcher in 1990 and worked there for 6 years.

• He was then promoted to Building Technician at the Building Department where he worked for 3 years.

Ray Ramsey– 20 Years• Ray returned to Fire Rescue as a Municipal Fire Inspector

until completing his Firefighter, EMT and Fire Officer training. He was then promoted to Fire Inspector I.

• Ray has been assigned to inspect many large construction projects such as the Convention Center, Bonnet Creek Resort and the Orlando Hilton. He is currently assigned to the Peabody Hotel expansion.

• He has received numerous awards for these projects, as well as recognition for his assistance during the 2004 hurricanes.

• He has been married to Linda for 11 years and they have one son: Christopher.

• Ray’s hobbies include: Boating, golfing and going to the beach.*

Daphney Middleton 25 Years

• She was originally hired by Orange County in 1985 to work with Child Support Enforcement.

• In 1986, she transferred to the Building Safety Division and earned promotions to Clerk Typist II and Building Technician II. She is now a Senior Permit Analyst.

Daphney Middleton – 25 Years• Daphney received the Growth Management

Employee Choice Award in 2006, and the Make It Happen Award in 2008.

• She has been married to Jerry for 23 years and they have three children: Jerry, 23; Shannon, 20 and Jeremy, 12.

• In her spare time, Daphney attends various writing groups. She enjoys poetry, shopping and spending time with family and God.

• Daphney is a member of an American Pool Association League and volunteers with her church.

• She is co-author of the play: “What’s the Price Tag for Forgiveness?.” *

Eileen C. Ireland 25 Years

• She was hired by Orange County Public Works in 1985 to work in the Right-of-Way Section. She’s now at the Real Estate Management Division.

• Eileen was promoted from Clerk to Clerk-Typist in 1987; to Engineer Technician I, II, III, and she’s currently an Engineer Technician IV in the Development Engineering Division, Permitting Section.

Eileen Ireland – 25 Years

• Eileen has received numerous awards, including: - Department Employee of The Month (1995); Distinguished

Service Award (2001 and 2004); and a Certificate of Commendation for assisting with the Wildfires of 2000.

• She was one of the original emergency responders working at the Emergency Call Center since its creation in 1995.

• Eileen has two daughters: Carrie and Stacy; and one son, C.J.; one stepson, Patrick; and four grandchildren: Tielar, Brandon, James, and Jack.

• In her spare time, she enjoys bowling and spending time with her family. *
