Advantages Over Night Storage Heaters

ELTI heaters are warm within minutes compared to ordinary Night Storage Heaters that take 7 to 8 hours to reach fulltemperature. Our heaters hold the desired room temperatures whereas storage heaters dissipate their heat from earlymorning and need to use a boost option (at a higher cost to you), to provide heat during evening and night time.

Our heating system does not require a double tariff meter or a dedicated power outlet and can be moved easily. Traditional storage heaters can be bulky and quite heavy and don’t allow for easy transfer from room to room.

Advantages Over Convector / Panel Heating

Standard convector heaters cause the hot air to rise quickly so that the ceilings are warm and the floors are cold. Result: Warm heads and cold feet, a very unhealthy state of affairs.

The circulation of air causes dust to circulate, this is sucked into the heaters and is burned and leaves unsightly black marks on walls. The circulated dust is also a major cause for allergy sufferers to suffer even more.

Convected air is also usually very dry air leading to a dry atmosphere in the room. This too is unhealthy, especially forolder people as eyes and sinuses dry out, which in turn leads to a higher risk of illness.

THESE HEATERS ARE NOT LIKE NIGHT STORAGE HEATERS NOR DO THEY OPERATE IN A SIMILAR MAN-NER! These heaters can react to temperature change within minutes, offering more control, far superiorcomfort, much lower running costs and are easier to handle. Storage heaters take up to seven hours to gettheir full charge, while our heaters provide cosy controllable heat in minutes.

Each block has encased within it an air-tight heat ele-ment that heats very quickly, typically in minutes andthen retains its heat for long periods. The blocks are fit-ted snugly within the steel housing of the radiator.

As they get hot, they transfer heat into the radiator body.Because of this design and the quality construction ofeach unit, they have a virtually unlimited life expectancyand the technology within the radiator for heat conser-vation and heat distribution capability is amazing!

Once a room has reached the desired temperature, an integral thermostat turns the heater off but the room temper-ature doesn’t plummet as is the case with many other forms of heating, instead the room remains comfortable usingthe heat retained by the refractory blocks internally.

Because of the storage capacity, tests have shown that the elti heater will only draw electric power for 15 - 20 minutesin any given hour. This can be demonstrated for anyone who would like to see it!

ELTI MASONRY HEATERS: The secret to the low running cost of our radiators is as follows: Inside each heater is a series of refractory clay blocks,in fact up to twenty totally independent blocks in each radiator.

The storage aspect is key to economy and the independ-ent test in winter conditions with external temperaturesdown to -7°c showed the efficiency of this type of heat-ing over a 24 hour period. A room held for 16 hours solidat 70° f needed to draw electric power for the heater forjust 28% of the time.

The temperature was then reduced to 61°f (16°c) for theremaining 8 hours and at this setting, power was onlyrequired for 17% of the time> based on 16 cent per kwh(unit of electricity) thats works out at a little over 4 centan hour per kwh which easily beats many gas and oilfired systems.

The unique round fluted design of theseradiators dramatically increases their sur-face area for far greater radiant heat distri-bution and each flute is about one inchdeep.

Due to the innovative flute design, just1ft/12 inches of one of these radiators hasthe equivalent surface area of 5 ft of stan-dard oil/gas radiators – so a 3ft (950mm) eltiradiator with its huge radiant surface area

can provide at least the same amount of heat as 15 ftunit fitted in standard oil/gas systems.

The rounded flutes have a second important functionwhich further helps reduce running costs and increaseheat distribution.

As the coldest air is always at floor level, we need tomove the air above and below to help to help equalisethe overall room temperature.

Cold air at floor level is naturallyattracted to the warmth of the heaterand the flutes act like chimneyspulling in the cold air at floor level,converting it into warm air and thenchanneling it back into the room viathe top of the heater.

This natural air movement combinedwith the hugh radiant surface resultsin a warm comfortable environmentwhich can be achieved with minimalenergy input.

To summarise: During the heatingcycle some of the heat is stored inadvance for distribution at a later stage. Heat is suppliedto the heater body from the electric elements via theclay refractory blocks and radiated into the relevantroom/area through the expanded surface area providedby the rounded flutes. Cool air is attracted into the baseof the flutes from below and naturally convected aroundthe room.

Diagram 1 below shows how convection heat falls off quite rapidly, as heat leaves the heater it rises quickly and thecurrent can create draughts. This type of heating can smell when turned on as it burns the dust on the elements.Not recommended for people with allergies or chest conditions as it can move allergens around the room. The burn-ing can also dry the air resulting in itchy eyes and users of this type of heating often place water somewhere in theroom to replace the moisture loss.

Diagram 2 below shows convential central heating, the thermostat is very often situated towards the top third of aroom on the wall, the hottest air nestles at ceiling level and the coldest air at floor level, therefore if the thermostat issited high on the wall a heat cloud will form and people complain of cold feet. The temperature difference betweenthe floor and ceiling, represents a fortune in wasted energy. You can see from the diagram how the layers form, thehottest at the top and the lower you go the cooler it gets. Very often there are draughts at floor level. This type of heat-ing needs constant attention and replacement parts.

Diagram 3 & 4 below show the performance of ELTI Heating. Cold air at floor level is drawn into the fluted design onboth sides of the radiator, if sited under a window, the cold air from the glass is drawn back into the heater. As the coldair passes over the warm interior it is channelled back into the room, this has the effect of natural convection and ithelps to equalise the room. Next, the huge surface area, really important for heat distribution, provides a constant cosywarmth, gently radiating into the room.

This efficiency is particularly important as in Germany and Austria winter temperatures can get as low as -20° or even -30°c, so really efficient, controllable and economical heating is essential. Unlike conventional heating systems ELTIheaters DO NOT require annual servicing. This reliability is crucial to low running costs. There are no glowing elements,wires or flames burning the air, nor are there any fans demanding additional power that creat draughts - Just natural,cosy air movement creating an all over warmth.
