TERMS AND CONDITIONS Except for the terms and conditions stated below, there are no warranties,either expressed or implied, as to the merchantability or fitness for a particularpurpose with respect to the cattle being sold at this auction.

Terms of the sale are cash. Payments must be made in full to the cashierimmediately following the sale. Checks made payable to Marana Stockyards &Livestock Market Inc. A transferred certificate of registry will be furnished to the buyer for all reg-istered animals and will be available within 75 days of sale provided that the cur-rent mailing address has been provided by the buyer. DVM health certificates have been written for all animals in the sale. The highest bidder is the buyer. If any dispute arises between two or morebidders, advancement of the bid will occur among the disputing bidders. Ifadvancement doesn't occur, the animal shall go to the person whose bid the auc-tioneer last recognized. Decisions from the block by the auctioneer are final. The buyer assumes all risks and expenses of the animal after the close of thebid by the auctioneer. Bulls are guaranteed to have the ability to pass the breeding soundnessexamination at the time of the sale. All claims for infertility must be made inwriting within 45 days of the sale. Animal will be returned at Buyers expense toseller. Any returned animal must have a veterinarian's certificate that documentsthe animal is healthy and free of Bangs, TB and Trich. Examination and laboratorytests are at the buyer's expense. Bulls are considered “acceptable breeders” ifolder than 18 months of age and settles cows by natural service and pregnancyresults. All effort has been made to insure correctness of the catalog. SouthwestBrangus Breeders Association (SWBBA) assumes no responsibility for error oromissions. Any known corrections will be made from the sale block on the day ofthe sale and take precedence over the catalog. All known defects of sale animals will be announced before the biddingbegins. SWBBA is not responsible for any injury, accident or illness sustained by per-sons attending the sale or by animals consigned. Expected Progeny Differences (EPDs) Expected Progeny Difference (EPDs) is the best estimate of an animal’s genetic merit for a par-ticular trait. It takes into account the animals’ own performance compared with its contempo-raries and the performance of its relatives compared against their contemporaries.

Birth Weight (BW): predicts calf size and calving ease

Weaning Weight (WW): predicts preweaning growth potential.

Yearling Weight (YW): predicts overall growth potential.

Milk (MK): predicts the ,maternal contribution to weaning weight of the calf through

milk production, behavior, immunity and other maternal environmental factors.

Total Maternal (TM): predicts weaning weight of calves from a bull’s daughters

Scrotal Circumference (SC): predicts testicular size.

EPD DefinitionsBirth Weight (BW)—A sire's EPD (lb) for mature dam equivalent birth weight of calf.Progeny of sires with lower BW EPD values will generally be born with less calving difficulty.

Weaning Weight (WW)—A sire's EPD (lb) for 205-day, mature dam equivalent WW. A sire'sWW EPD is an indication of growth to weaning. WW EPD does not indicate milk production.

Yearling Weight (YW)—A sire's EPD (lb) for 365-day, mature dam equivalent YW. The YWEPD is an indication of the progeny's post weaning gain performance. YW EPD is calculated bycombining WW and post weaning gain performance to predict expected differences in weightperformance at one year of age.

Milk (MK)—A prediction of the maternal genetic component of weaning weight, MK EPDdoes not directly indicate more or less milk production. The MK EPD is the expected difference(lb), due to maternal performance (which includes milk production) in the weaning weight ofcalves out of a bull's daughters compared to calves from daughters of a bull with a zero MKEPD. A higher EPD indicates that the bull's daughters should produce more pounds of calf dueto increased maternal performance, but a higher MK EPD may also indicate a need for highernutritional inputs to support increased milk production.

Total Maternal (TM)—The expected overall difference (lb) in weaning weight of calves outof a bull's daughters compared to calves from daughters of a bull with a zero maternal wean-ing EPD. The maternal weaning EPD is a measure of the genetic component of both growthand maternal ability. It is calculated by adding one-half the WW EPD to the MK EPD, and as aresult, TM EPD is the only EPD for which there is no corresponding ACC.

Scrotal Circumference (SC)—Measured in centimeters, SC has been shown to have astrong influence on male fertility, however selection for extremes in scrotal size is not an effec-tive method of affecting change in the trait, as it is subject to extreme environmental varia-tion. While larger actual scrotal circumference is important in terms of how the bull can beexpected to perform his duties of servicing cows, only SC EPD predicts the genetic value of thebull for SC that can be transmitted to his calves. Additionally, heifers sired by bulls with highSC EPD have been shown to reach puberty at significantly earlier ages than do daughters ofbulls with low SC EPD.

Ribeye Area (REA)—REA EPD is a predictor of the muscularity of an animal's offspring insquare inches. The REA EPD presented in this summary is for ultrasound REA as opposed to car-cass REA. While there is a high correlation between ultrasound REA and carcass REA, they arenot the same trait. Genetic progress for improved muscling is not direct using REA EPD fromultrasound, but still much improved over using actual ultrasound REA measures.

% Intramuscular Fat (IMF)—IMF EPD is presented in units of percent fat as determined byultrasound. While IMF from ultrasound has a strong positive relationship to carcass marblingscores, they are not the same trait. Genetic progress for improved marbling is not direct usingIMF EPD, but still much improved over using actual ultrasound IMF measures.

Fat Thickness (FT)—The ultrasound Fat Thickness EPD is comparable to the carcass Fat ThicknessEPD and has the same limitations. In most cases, it is more desirable to select for less fat at the12th rib, but selection to extremes can result in decreased carcass quality. Like the carcassequivalent, this EPD is measured in inches.

Whatever system your bull has been evaluated in,young bulls do require an adjustment period priorto being used for breeding. This is referred by someas a “hardening period.” Others refer to it as a “letdown” period.

Young bulls, especially those of breeding age, dorequire attention for continued growth and properdevelopment. Regardless if they are home raised ornewly purchased, proper feeding, care and manage-ment now will give your bull the opportunity to con-tinue growing and allow him to develop into asound and profitable herd sire.

Several management practices should be observedwhen newly purchased bulls are brought home.These practices can help ensure that each new bullhas a long and productive future with good produc-tive performance.

• Have an area with fresh water and good quality hay tokeep the bull(s) in upon arrival, so they will have time tosettle down and become familiar with the surroundings.

• After allowing to drink water and eat hay, you mayfeed additional energy at approximately 1 percent ofbody weight.

• If you are planning to turn the bull(s) out with the cowherd upon arrival, bring the herd to a holding area andallow the bull(s) to return to the pasture with the herd.

• Avoid turning your newly purchased bull(s) in with anolder bull. We must reduce the chance of injury.

• Consider limiting the number of females you want tosettle during the breeding season to 20 the first year.

• Avoid excessive loss of body condition before or duringthe breeding season. You may want to rest him for 1 to 2weeks depending on the breeding activity of your herd.If necessary, feed him additional energy if excessive lossin body flesh condition is noticeable. Hay and/or pas-ture alone will not provide sufficient nutrients to meetthe requirements of young, growing, active bull(s).

• If there is one bull in the pasture, as he breeds thecows, record the breeding date. Non-return to heat is agood indication your bull is settling the cows.

• Treat for internal parasites at the end of the breedingseason. Provide effective external parasite control asneeded.

• Remember, bulls are guaranteed by consignors to bebreeders only if they are managed correctly after the sale.

Young bulls should be limited to a minimum num-ber of cows to service. The number is decided by hisage. Place young bulls in well fenced lots before andafter breeding season to keep bulls away from cowsin heat. There should be shade and plenty of cleanwater in each lot. Provide free-choice minerals androutinely treat for parasites.
