Decide at which band you can start the pupils from.
Start weak pupils at Band C to build a good
foundation first before proceeding to Band B.
Remember that few pupils can start from Band A.
Remember that success in examination is about hard
work and the right attitude, not luck!
Remember! Don’t teach
UPSR exam papers BUT
teach GOOD ENGLISH !

A Common Myth Among Year 6 English Language Teachers:
To score Band A , pupils must write a fantastic essay with bombastic
words , expressions and sentences !!
As a result, many potential Band A pupils were unable to score because
they wrote too many ‘complicated ‘ sentences instead!!
Important Tips
Perhaps the 2 most important factors are :
1.The correct subject-verb agreement.
2.The correct tenses.

A stitch in time saves nine.
Meaning:
A timely effort will prevent more work later.
Good handwriting starts with the Year 1 and 2 pupils. We should
not wait till they are in Year 6. A stitch in time saves nine.

Food For Though t
To teach pupils good English, our English must first be good!
As we are accountable for our pupils’ standard of English,
dear teachers:
1.How good is your English?
2.What are you doing to maintain your good standard of English?
3.If you know that you need to improve your English,
what are the positive steps you have taken?
Children have never been very good at listening to their elders, but they have never failed to imitate them.
James Baldwin
Good teachers are those who know how little they know.
Bad teachers are those who think they know more than they don't know.
R. Verdi
