A report about an alternative power source by Matthew

Biomass is garden . It includes dead trees, live stock manure, garden waste , bark, left over crops , sawdust , paper and kitchen rubbish.
What is Biomass?

In new Zealand wood biomass provides 5 percent of new Zealand main energy supply. Timber industries use it for heat.
Where is this type of power generated in New Zealand?

How does this power generator work? You could draw a diagram. All of the rubbish is put into a big tank or pit then methane gas is made. The methane gas goes along a pipe and is used for electricity. Methane gas is burned to boil water around the steam turns the turbines which run the generators which make electricity.

Could we use this type of power at school? We could burn wood pellets in our boiler. We
would put the pit in waiaitawa bush.

Conclusion i.e. why you think this power could be used at school to run our heater.
It is cheap to run because it rubbish . We could put it in our boiler . Other places use biomass like Rotorua girls high and timber mills.

GLOSSARYRenewable something that can be replaced and
will not run out. Gas is made called methane when all the waste rots. Sometimes rubbish is burnt
