Underground wiring shall be inspected before the trench is backfilled. Except for the final connection to switches, receptacles, and lighting fixtures, all ground wires and other wires in boxes shall be spliced and pigtailed for the rough-in inspection. NEC 334.80 When bored holes in framing containing cables are sealed (for fire/draft or air intrusion purposes) the maximum number of conductors in a single hole cannot exceed six (6) excluding grounding conductors. (A two wire cable with ground equals two (2) conductors; A three wire cable with ground equals three (3) conductors for the purpose of this requirement). NEC 406.4 Replacement receptacles must be ARC fault protected. A FINAL ELECTRICAL INSPECTION is required when all wiring has been completed and all devices, lighting fixtures, and appliances have been installed and tested.
