Factory-made precast products speed up

construction and require fewer people

compared to cast-in-situ. This ensures

better control and more cost-effi cient

construction. Building with precast

environment. Material handling is

easier and less scaff olding is needed.

Construction generates less waste

– waste that otherwise would have

to be handled and recycled. Further,

with less consumption of cement

and steel, precasting leaves much

The panels are insulated, which reduces

Effi cient production of piles.Piles are underground supporting precast products that take on foundation

loads. Our pile line is easy to operate. The piles are effi ciently cast side-by-side

on customized molds with a combined casting/compaction machine.

Production of prestressed and reinforced beams and columns with high load-bearing capacity.Beams and columns are precast products used for structural frames, skeletons, in

buildings. End products with high load-bearing capacity off er great architectural

freedom in a variety of constructions. The frame line is similar to a fl oor production

line but with stronger beds. Thus, it can also be used to manufacture fl oor products.

Cost-effi cient and speedy production of light, non-load bearing partition walls. Sound insulating as well as moisture and fi re resistant Acotec panels are exceedingly

up to six times faster than traditional brickwork and twice as fast as blockwork.

A waste-free and compact production line. Hollow-core Acotec panels are room-high

and 600 mm wide products.

As far back as 1959, together with our

increasingly smart solutions for the

building with precast has less environmental impact compared to cast-in-situ – a message we have worked hard to spread since 1959.

It uses less steel and generates less

waste. It is also a safer way of building

than cast-in-situ and requires fewer

workers on site and less scaffolding. But

there is more to it than that. The overall

energy consumption and CO2 emissions

during the life cycle of buildings need to

be taken into account. The same goes

for the health and safety aspects of

living or working in a building.

Concrete is one of the most frequently

used materials. It is non-toxic and

composed of natural materials. It does

not mold or rust. However, cement

production currently accounts for

approximately 5% of global CO2

emissions. And since concrete consists

of 10–15% cement, it is vital to reduce

consumption and minimize waste as

much as possible. The same goes for

water, which is an essential part of the

process and in the concrete.

Health and safety. Reduce, reuse, and

recycle. These are all important ideas in

precast manufacturing. We do our very

best to address these – and we have

come a long way since the 1950s.

A few examples:

• Reduced cement consumption in

hollow-core slab production with

shear compaction technology

developed by Elematic.

• Reduced environmental impact in

precast production with slurry

recycling system that separates solid

particles from water. Solids can, for

instance, be used in landfills whereas

water is recycled and reused in the

process.

• Healthier working environment in

precast production. Both air quality

and the level of noise are improved

with Elematic technology. The first,

by means of the dust collection

system of our latest saws, and the

second by our extruders with shear

compaction technology.

• A safer and healthier living

environment with precast products

manufactured with Elematic

technology. For instance, sound

insulated and fire resistant Acotec

walls, or the sandwich walls with

insulation for energy savings.

Elematic’s history began in Finland in

1959. The business idea was to develop

and sell technology for the manufacture

precast products. From the very

beginning the spirit of the company has

been to exceed all expectations and

push the envelope of our industry. The

world’s first circulation line, developed

in 1965, was one of the first steps on

the road to success. And it was followed

by many other innovations in the years

to come. Our ability to pay attention to

1965 Housing market booms in Finland. A major residential developer needs to speed up production. Our solution: the world’s fi rst circulation line with concrete transportation tracks, movable/vibrating molds, and heat treatment.

1967 We start to export. First out: battery molds to Sweden.

1969 German daughter company, Finnelement GmbH, established.

1970s Finland standardizes all dimensions of concrete products, while research results in a new product – the hollow-core slab. A major precast manufacturer needs to produce 400000 m2 of these new slabs in the next two years. Our solution: one hundred meter long casting beds complete with prestressing strands, a machine that vibrates the concrete, extruding it as it moves along the bed. We call the machine Variax.

1976 Export expands as the fi rst hollow-core slab plant is sold to the Middle East.

1980s Export moves into the Soviet market.

1992 Introduction of patented casting machine, the Comcaster.

1959 Elematic is founded.

1995 Looks matter. Industrial design combines functionality with a stylish exterior. Our solution: to start doing exactly that. When we display a new extruder, the EL900E, at theBauma trade fair, it is a smash hit. The machine is chosen as one of the Finnish entries for the 1996 European Design Prize and receives an honorable mention in Finland’s Pro Finnish Design Competition.

2005 Precast technology is still relatively unknown to many markets. But they all are keen to learn. Our solution: a Precast Academy. A forum dedicated to improving and developing the understanding of precast production technologies. A place for meeting and sharing knowledge.

2006 Precasters are looking to gain more control – of bidding, job management, daily scheduling, manufacturers, etc. Our solution: ELiPLAN. A state-of-the-art Enterprise Resource Planning System (ERP) for real-time control of production fl ows and optimization of precast concrete factories.

2009 One hundredth wall production line delivered.

2010 A Norwegian customer needs to be able to follow through on more extensive construction projects that require hollow-core with larger spans and profi les. Our solution: the recently launched Extruder E9 utilizing controlled shear compaction. A very quiet machine that saves more concrete than any other extruder in the world and gives more accurate slab and cross-section dimensions – and smoother surfaces.
