    Building conditions - Complete

    Floor conditions - Not applicable

    Weather Conditions - Good

    Environmental Conditions:

The load is applied using an Adhesion tester pulling the

dolly from the surface under test. The maximum load atfailure is then recorded by the use of an analogue

    gauge.

Test locations are cored to a depth of (15+/-5) mm.

For each test location a steel dolly of 50 mm diameter is

fixed to the sample surface using adhesive. After the

adhesive is set, typically 24 hours, the pull off test is

    performed as follows.

    Lighting Conditions - Good

A load frame is attached to the dolly via a threaded stud

in order that the load can be exerted at right angles to

    the surface under test.

At 1.5 N/mm2 there was 100% cohesion failure in the adhesive layer.

This report should not be reproduced except in full

At 3.5 N/mm2 there was 10% cohesion failure in the second layer and 90% adhesion

failure between the first and second layer

At 3.5N/mm2 there was 15% cohesion failure in the second layer and 85% adhesion

failure between the first and second layer

It should be noted however that the material was stretching.

At 3.5 N/mm2 there was still no adhesion failure but material was stretched to Maximum

Although it is clear that the material has good adhesion properties, due to the elastic

nature of the material we feel that it is not appropriate to give a mean tensile bond

strength from this form of testing.

It should be noted however that the material was stretching.

    Conclusion

    Test Number 2

    Test Number 1

At 0.5 N/mm2 there was 85% adhesion failure between the adhesive layer and the dolly

and 15% cohesion failure in the second layer.
