Context• ECI received word of award of FY 2020 SNAP-

ED funds in late September 2019 - $567,893

• Internal Letter of Instruction (LOI) completed with HHSC’s SNAP-Ed program and executed in October 2019

• ECI contract amendment format approved in mid November 2019 -- amendments began routing to programs

• Amendments routing and nearing execution

• Programs receiving approximately $50,260 each, based on number of ECI programs that chose to participate

SNAP-Ed MissionImprove the likelihood that persons eligible for SNAP will make healthy food choices within a limited budget and choose physically active lifestyles consistent with current Dietary Guidelines of America and the USDA food guidance.

Program Parameters

• Services must be family-focused Should take into account ECI child’s needs, but not solely

focus on participating child

• Services must focus on non-medical primary prevention of disease & adoption of an active lifestyle

Funds cannot be used for medical nutrition therapyFunds cannot be used for secondary or tertiary intervention of

What Else Do You Need to Know?

• Contract amendment Amendments should finish routing and be

executed soon Funds cannot be spent until contract is

executed Finance team will be issuing a Numbered

Document with guidance on how to voucher for SNAP-Ed funds (reimbursement)

• Implementation timeline Less than 12 months for program

implementation Program beginning January 2020, runs

through September 2020 (because it is on Federal Fiscal Year)

Having our program in place now, we may be able to ask for a rollover of funds if not all funds expended in the nine remaining months

What Else Do You Need to Know?

• Reporting• A second webinar will be provided at the beginning of

February to provide further detail on each of the reporting requirements

Monthly Vendor Report – Financial invoice with brief program summary

-Being designed by ECI and approved by SNAP-Ed-Will include numbers served and primary intervention(s) provided during the month-Will gather baseline information related to SNAP-Ed key performance indicators

Quarterly EARS Report – Outputs and demographics Report that ECI must compile to provide to HHSC

SNAP-Ed on a quarterly basis HHSC SNAP-Ed will provide a training to ECI in

mid-January on the PEARS systems and will request information on whether programs need access; ECI to determine what’s best for us

Annual Report – Narrative/qualitative explanation of activities, outputs and outcomes, success & challenges; quantitative results related to key performance indicators
