Easter Sunday The Resurrection of the Lord

2

Easter Sunday: The Resurrection of the Lord

Office Closures April 2 & 3, Easter Monday and Tuesday

Alleluia!

Christ is Risen! He is Truly Risen!

Alleluia!

Dear Friends,

Let us bask in the light and glory of the resurrection during these Easter days. For us, as for the apostles, it may take some time to sink in. They were in hiding for fear of what might happen to them and doubted when St. Mary Magdalen brought them the Good News of the resurrection. Then, Jesus appeared to them as well and proclaimed, “Peace be with you.”

For the next seven days we celebrate Easter with the octave ending on Divine Mercy Sunday. God’s abun-dant love and Mercy is overflowing in these days, and so the Church continues to celebrate with great joy the destruction of death and the fulfillment of our hope, the glorious resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Each of us has just renewed the promises of our baptism and been reminded of who we are, a “new creation” in God’s image and likeness. We are adopted, beloved children of our Heavenly Father. With those who have just been baptized, we continue to soak in the grace and to realize the gift that has been given to us. May the words of St. Paul ring in our hearts as we keep our eyes always on the goal of our faith, the realiza-tion of our hope and our deepest desires.

If then you were raised with Christ, seek what is above,

where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Colossians 3:1

Sincerely yours in Jesus Christ,

Fr. Jack D. Shrum Pastor

Holy Father’s Intention: APRIL

For Those who have Responsibility in Economic Matters

That economists may have the courage to reject any economy of exclusion and know how to open new

paths.

First Friday Mass and Adoration Friday, April 6, 2018 at 7:30 pm. In order to make sure that Jesus is never left alone while exposed with Blessed Sacrament, we have asked that 2 or 3 people for each hour of the night commit to being in the church.

“Would you not spend one hour with me?”

JOHN BAPTIST DE LA SALLE Movie: St. John Baptist de la Salle Ver: San Juan Bautista de la Salle The inspiring story of a 17th century French priest who reluctantly became involved in educating poor children. In the process, he became the Founder of the Brothers of the Christian Schools, an order known today as the De La Salle Christian Brothers. Actor Mel Ferrer gives a heartfelt performance as St. John Baptist de La Salle, a priest from a wealthy upper-class family who gave up everything to serve the needs of educating poor children, facing tre-mendous opposition along the way. Today there are some 70,000 Lasallian educators, with about 900 of their educational institutions, including 64 colleges and universities, who join over 5,000 Christian Brothers in providing a Catholic education for a million students. His story is one of God's Providence, of great charity and perseverance, and of a genuine application of the Gospel to daily life in the classroom. His writings have become educational classics, and his meditations continue to inspire Catholic educators around the world to "see Christ beneath the rags of those confided to your care."
