Learning through play

Page 4: Early Years PRESENTATION

Water play is one of the most relaxing and rewarding activities a child can experience. Water play also helps in other areas of a child's development. Water play is also a very important sensory play feature.

Our popular fresh water pump runs direct from the mains water supply and provides great potential for natural learning and imagination.

Many other water play options are also available. Please contact our sales team for more information.

Children have the opportunity to learn and understand the following :. Volume and the concepts of full, empty, shallow and

deep. Weight and the terms heavy and light. Buoyancy and the terms float, sink and submerge. Cleaning and the states of clean and dirty, dry and wet

and the concept of evaporation.

Den areas

A living willow den or tunnel can form a lovely leafy hideaway and shady play area for your children.

Our simple but effective den making zone comprises of machine round pressure treated timber poles which are concreted into the ground at varying heights. In addition we provide a robust camouflage net which can be draped over the poles to create a real hide away den.

Let’s play builders!

Children love having their very own realistic building site. We build our construction zones using real bricks or blocks and top them off with smooth cement capping. A timber frame with orange safety mesh helps to create that work in progress look.

Work as part of a group, taking turns and co-operating. Interact with others, negotiating and discussing plans.

With a number of varieties available, our gazebos create a very useful and attractive sheltered area in the Garden.

Wooden mushroom seats are placed around a story tellers chair, creating a cosy area for reading and learning.

Why not add character to your story time area with a wonderful storytellers chair. It creates the perfect finishing touch to an enchanting story time area.

Our polycarbonate greenhouse is a safe way of helping children learn about growing. The greenhouse is normally designed to go onto a solid level existing surface and securely fixed down accordingly. We also put down sleeper planters to create an area for the children to grow a wide variety of plants and learn about growing edible plants such as herbs and vegetables.

We carefully select from our safe sensory plant list to create the perfect sensory area.

Children learn about the world through their senses: touch, sight, sound, taste and smell. Creating safe, diverse and developmentally appropriate outdoor leaning environments can offer benefits across curriculum and developmental areas.

Children learn about their relationship with the natural world around them.

What’s more exciting or compelling to children than minibeasts?

Encourages children to: • Treat animals in the environment

with care and sensitivity.

• Observe and recognise some simple characteristics of minibeasts and other living things.

• Work together as part of a group or in pairs, taking turns and sharing fairly.

• Develop curiosity and interest by exploring their surroundings using their senses.

Naturestep is a natural looking, practical surface created from recycled rubber mulch which is mixed with a resin binder and wet poured onto a prepared sub base.

Lawn deluxe is our luxurious 36mm pile natural look artificial grass with the ‘c’ shaped yarn. This product has been widely used throughout children’s play areas and has proved its hard wearing qualities. We believe this is the nearest thing to natural grass on the market.

Softstep is one of the most practical playground surfaces and is available in a variety of colours...

This product is created using EPDM rubber granules and mixed with a resin binder then wet-poured onto a prepared sub base and levelled to a smooth finish.

Rod I just wanted to let you know how delighted the children and parents are with the new garden here in Cardiff – we have had a lot of very positive comments from parents and the children love the water pump and sand pit especially! I also wanted to thank Dave, Mike and Perry for their hard work last week – they were fantastic! We have over the years had a lot of different contractors working with the nursery but we have never had a group as accommodating as yours. Nothing was too much trouble for them considering the amount they had to do in a short time, they were still happy for the children to see the digger they were using and talk to the children about what they were doing in the garden. They were courteous and professional at all times and became part of the team for the time they were with us. I just wanted to give some positive feedback to you about them and please pass on our thanks to them as well. Regards Nichola Martin Nursery manager Cardiff
