WHAT WE SEEIN YOUEarlhamites are passionate learners, thoughtful and insatiably curious. That’s what we see in you and your future classmates, people who don’t stop asking important questions: Can we do this better? Are we approaching this problem the right way? What else can we try?

Earlhamites don’t settle for easy answers and warmed-over solutions. The careers they are preparing for demand more. The world demands more.

“THE PEOPLE HERE ARE GENUINELY KIND, THEY ARE INTELLIGENT WITHOUT THE ATTITUDE. AND AFTER BEING HERE FOR FOUR YEARS, I CAN SAY THAT THIS IS AN ELITE PLACE, WITHOUT THE ELITISM.”

—Ryder Comstock , Earlham Alum

Doing research shouldn’t have to wait until after graduation. Earlham has one of the highest rates in the nation, 85 percent, for faculty-student collaborative research. Likewise, getting practical experience in a career you like shouldn’t wait until you land your first job. A full 100 percent of students take part in internships or other experiential learning. Combining rigorous academics and hand-on learning makes Earlham both an exciting place to study and one of the best places to find a path towards a fulfilling career.

Earlham’s Center for Integrated Learning, helps students uncover their passions and prepare for the future. The CIL locates and funds internships around the world – from China to Alaska to Washington, D.C. — giving Earlhamites the best kind of preparation possible for lives of impact, wherever in the world that may take them.

DON’T WAIT

Page 5: Earlham College Tabloid

Earlham is a place to grow, a place to make fast friends, a place to feel accepted. Here, every voice is valued and individual and cultural differences are embraced.

With so many different interests and talents here, there’s something happening almost every hour of the day. From concerts, festivals, service projects, student groups, to impromptu gatherings, you will be able to enjoy the right blend of academics and campus and community life.

Earlham does residential life right. Residential living is one of the greatest ways we learn from one another here. Students all start out living together in First Year Experience residence halls, where we bond as a class. For the next three years, we can choose between living in upper class halls or moving to on-campus houses. The houses are each centered around a theme, from Spanish House to Sci-Fi House. (What option won’t you find at Earlham? Fraternity and sorority houses. Earlham has never had them.)

BE AT HOME AT EARLHAM

EARLHAM IS THE KIND OF PLACE WHERE IF SOMETHING DOESN’T EXIST, YOU CAN MAKE IT HAPPEN, BECAUSE OF THE SUPPORT YOU GET FROM FACULTY, STAFF AND OTHER STUDENTS.

“—Elsa Hagg, Earlham alum

“IT’S A WASTE OF TIME TO GO TO COLLEGE AND HAVE IT BE LIKE HIGH SCHOOL, JUST WITH OLDER KIDS. WHY DO THAT? EARLHAM IS WHAT YOU HOPE COLLEGE WILL BE LIKE: IT’S AN ADVENTURE, THERE’S REAL DIVERSITY, THERE’S MUTUAL RESPECT AND THE FACULTY HERE SUPPORT YOU AND PUSH YOU.”

—Maya Luney ’17

THE WORLD NEEDS YOUEarlham is a place where thinking about a wider world comes naturally. It’s not just an issue contained in a special seminar or lecture. As a school with one of the highest rankings for its percentage of international students and also for students who study abroad, it’s a genuine part of daily life here.

When you choose Earlham, you’re putting yourself in position for a successful career and a rewarding life. And you are also choosing an experience that helps you be a person the world needs most.
