This Day in Aviation History: Joe Waltz was inaugurated as President of 302 with much pomp and circumstance one year ago tomorrow on June 10, 2017 with a speech that will live in infamy. It was the first meeting that Archer stayed awake the whole time because Joe made him stand at attention.

CONROE TAXIWAY PROGRESSCrews continue to work on a major improvement for KCXO traffic. They are making a 3000 foot extension of Taxiway Alpha, which will give a full length parallel to Runway 14/32. In addition, they will add a new cross-airport taxiway between Bravo and Foxtrot—probably named Golf as an extension of the present Charlie. This will cut down on back-taxiing and create a safer environment. While they are having to do a great deal of lime-stabilizing, they have not run into any major problems with airport soils. The weather has caused some delay, but nothing serious. By the time you get this, they should be pouring concrete.

Here are some things you should know:

1. The most important things you can do are monitor NOTAMs and the ATIS.

2. Bravo will be alternately open and closed. Same goes for Alpha.

3. There will be a MAJOR closure of Runway 14/32—probably in July or August. Construction will be kicked up to around the clock, hopefully complete that in a weekend.

4. Of course, the weather will continue to be a factor, making it a long summer. Stay alert, and keep it safe out there!

Alpha will go straight—the right turn will become Delta

Lime is rototilled in—then left to stabilize the soil

Crews will alternately close Bravo, Alpha & RW 14/32

NEW AIRPORT MAIN ENTRANCE

If you usually access KCXO from the south, you may not have seen our new “MAIN” Entrance. Located off League Line/Deison Technology Dr, it has just been landscaped with sprinklers installed. Nice! The Airport Drive/Airport Parkway entrance is now the “WEST” entrance. If you direct people to KCXO, you now have 3 entrances—West/South/Main.

DID YOU READ YOUR JULYISSUE OF “SPORT AVIATION”? Did you read it well enough to have caught that this is Tom and Hetty Ball, based right here at KCXO? They are ardent supporters of aviation, especially “Young Eagle's” and the effort to bring young people into the profession. We'd like to recognize them and their contribution to our shared interest. Thank You! Tom and Hetty for your generous support!

I have a 2 bedroom house in OSH already rented for Sunday July 22 thru Friday July 27. (6 nights with check out on Saturday), I would like to offer this to one of our members at a discounted rate of $900 ($150/night); or best offer. This is a nice 2 bedroom, 1 bath, non-smoking house that is just 1 exit down the freeway from the airport. We now meet in Galaxy FBO's building on the South Side of the Conroe-North Houston Airport. Use the South Entrance, 1st floor. Meetings start at 10:00 AM.

You cannot access the FBO by the old Airport Parkway. You need to use Loop 336 and turn at Hawthorne Drive. This road has an Airport Entrance sign which mentions Galaxy FBO and the Black Walnut Restaurant. This is just southeast of the Roller Skating Rink.

See you there.
