Empangeni CPF Chairman Zilindile Masan- go, who said he had made many attempts to contact all five members, said at the meeting that it was cause for great concern that the members seemed only to care for their nom- ination as a matter of status, rather than as part of efforts to reduce crime. The Zululand Observer also tried to contact the Empangeni CPF Youth Desk Chairperson Kheto Nxumalo, but to no avail. One resident who did attend the meeting at the Empangeni Civic Centre told the Zululand Observer they were disappointed in the turnout of the Empangeni community at large. ‘Every month we have these meetings, and every month there are only a handful of residents that attend. ‘Yet, at the same time, these same residents still sit and complain about crime and the state of our country, but they are too lazy to do anything about it. It is just sickening.’ The next CPF meeting will take place at 5.30pm on Tuesday 17 July at the Empangeni Civic Centre.
