In our current era when dealing with issues involving the infamous color line W.E.B

Du Bois ideas would be preferable to Booker . Washingtons. W.E.B Du Bois and Booker .

Washington were both in favor of racial e!ualit"# the" simpl" disagreed on the means b" which it

should be obtained. Booker . Washington believed that economic securit" among $frican

$mericans was the path to %E&E'($)* freedom. +n the other hand W.E.B Du Bois was all

about taking action in the moment. Du Bois believed that ensuring political and social e!ualit"

    was the wa" to go.

Washington was a supporter of vocational education. Washington considered labor skills

as important as education, evidence of this is when he sa"s, -'o race can prosper till it learns

that there is as much dignit" in tilling a field as in writing a poem-. In Washingtons mind it

seemed that the right to vote or the rights to basic civil liberties didnt matter if one could not

support themselves lacked the skills necessar" to /oin the work0force. Washingtons philosoph"

of sorts was that if $frican $mericans proceeded to be hard0workers and the" proved to the

whites the" were -worth"- then someda" true e!ualit" would be granted to them.

1rom Du Bois perspective social and political e!ualit" was not something that could be pushed

into the future, it was an issue that needed to be addressed. his is e2emplified in this !uote#

-he power of the ballot we need in sheer defense, else what shall save us from a second

slaver"3- Du Bois started the 'iagara movement which was a precursor to the '$$45. Du Bois

efforts lead the (6 into the 4ivil 7ights 8ovement of the 9:th centur". While Washington

supported elementar" %basic* education for $frican $mericans Du Bois pushed for higher

    education among $frican $mericans.

During his time period Washingtons ideas couldve benefited $frican $mericans, but the black

econom" as a whole has tremendousl" improved since Washingtons time, therefore his opinions

are not as relevant as the" used to be.

Du Bois; ideas however could be as beneficial in our time period as the" were in his.

Even recentl" the safet" of $frican $mericans %from police in particular* has been a

controversial topic. Du Bois believed in fighting for social and political rights %especiall" voting

rights*. 'owada"s $frican $mericans have the voting rights that people like Du Bois fought so

hard for. 'ow people need to vote for candidates that promise to protect the rights and safet" of

    $frican $mericans.

Du Bois and Washington both wanted the same thing# e!ualit" among the races, but Du

Bois ideas would /ust be more efficient and effective than Washington;s.
