Adding heat flux model

Heat flux model input:

- Humidity (%)

- Air temperature (degree Celsius)

- Cloudiness (% blockage of solar radiation)

Started with spatially uniform HAC field, seems ok because delta

stations Sacramento and Stockton look similar (Stockton is used in

model)

Model set-up

- Using existing grid and water level calibration for water year 2011

(1 Oct 2010 – 1 Oct 2011)

- Replacing spatial wind fields by uniform wind measured at

Stockton (spatial field didn’t work)

- Including salinity

- Note: all temperatures are in degrees Celsius!

Temperature:

1. Adding heat flux model, modeling heat exchange between water

and air

2. Adding temperature boundaries

3. 3D modeling

Results

Run10 (June, Jul, Aug)

- incl. heat flux

- temperature at boundaries (sea, Sacramento R, San Joaquin R):

5 deg C

- 2D

Heat flux model works!

Delta region is strongly affected

by temperature prescribed at

upstream boundaries.
