Drycryogeniccouplingsconsistofatankunitoradapterwithaspringloadedpoppetandahoseunitorcouplerwithavalvedrivenbyaninternalcam.Tocouple,simplyaligntherollersonthecouplerwiththenotchesontheadapter,pushthecouplerontotheadapterandrotatepast100degrees.Thissimpleprocesslocksthecouplingtogether,createsaself-sealandopenstheinternalvalvesforfullflowwithlowpressuredrop.Theduelpoppetdesignshut-offmechanismsafelysealsliquidsandgasesbehindthevalve,eliminatingfugitiveemissionsandthedangerofaspillofcryogenicfluids.

How It Works

Thesafetybreak-awayvalveconsistsoftwohalves,eachwithavalvethathasanO-ringseal.

Whenthecryogenicbreak-awaycouplingsseparate,thevalvesareabletoclose.Thetwovalvescloserapidly,minimizingexposuretopersonnelandtheenvironment.

Thecryogenicbreak-awaycouplingshavethreeexternalbreakbolts.Inthecaseofaxialtensionalltheboltstakeuptheforcecorrespondingtothebreakforceonthehosewithasafetymargin.

Non-axialforcesconcentratethetensionforcesmorestronglyononebolt,sothatthesafetybreak-awaycouplingreactsinanaturalwaytothereductionofthehosebreakforces.
