• 8 primary intelligences, • An individual may excel in one, two or

even three of these, but nobody is good at them all.

• The same rule applies to a child prodigy or mentally/physically disadvantaged person. – Eg.A brain damaged child could have a

severely impaired use of language, but be able to paint or play music magnificently.

• How are YOU smart?– Check your own Intelligences Profile– Use other web-based MI tests

– Also have your pupils use them so they can take ownership of their own learning

d.russell-bowied.russell-bowie 22

• Teachers tend to teach using their own preferred intelligences

• Be aware of this• Plan to include ALL intelligences

in children’s learning experiences• Use the creative arts to cover the

multiple intelligences

Page 23: D.russell-bowie 1 MMADD about the Arts: Chapter 8 Introduction to the MULTIPLE INTELLIGENCES.

d.russell-bowied.russell-bowie 23

• Through involvement in all the art forms:

Music • Dance • Drama • Visual Arts children can learn using their

preferred intelligences.

• If a child is not learning the way you are teaching, then you must teach in the way the child learns. How can YOU use the Multiple Intelligences in the classroom to enhance learning for ALL children?

Page 25: D.russell-bowie 1 MMADD about the Arts: Chapter 8 Introduction to the MULTIPLE INTELLIGENCES.

d.russell-bowied.russell-bowie 25

• Take a children’s book/ story• Work out how to include all 8

intelligences so all children can learn THEIR way

• In so doing, all Creative Arts should be covered and integrated
