Please read all instructions before beginning.

Pre-washing not recommended.

Yardages and Cutting WOF is 42" width of fabric from selvage edge to selvage edge.

Label each set of strips when cutting.

1 each of (4) different Dream Big Leaf panels • Trim each panel to 42” square, centering the design

1 yard Black solid • (7) strips 1 1/4" x WOF; join strips short ends

together with diagonal seams to make a long strip.

Cut into:

(2) 1 1/4” x 64 1/4” strips (side borders)

(2) 1 1/4” x 65 3/4" strips (top & bottom borders) • (8) strips 2-1/4” x WOF for binding

1 Yard Charcoal Print • (8) strips 3 3/4" x WOF; join strips short ends together with diagonal seams to make a long strip.

Cut into:

(2) 3 3/4” x 65 3/4” strips (side borders)

(2) 3 3/4” x 72 1/4" strips (top & bottom borders)

5 yards of 42" backing fabric • (2) strips 88" x WOF

OR

2 1/2 yards of wide backing fabric • (1) piece 88" x 88”

Batting

• (1) piece 88" x 88"

Cutting the Panels Use a 1/4" seam allowance for all stitching. Press all seams as directed.

Refer to the exploded quilt diagram as needed throughout the following steps.

1. Measure and square each Dream Big Leaf panel to 42”. Measure and cut all four panels into (9) 14”

squares, as shown below.

2. Without trimming, cut the middle squares in half diagonally twice, with all four panels, as shown by the

white lines. These will form the Quarter Square units.

3. Using only the autumn and mint panels, trim each corner square to 13 5/8”, and then cut in half diagonally

once, as shown by the white lines. Pay attention to the orientation of the cuts. These will form the Half Square

Units for the corners. Label and set aside.

4. Center and trim ONLY the autumn panel center square to 13 1/4”.

Completing the Quilt Refer to the exploded quilt diagram throughout the following steps.

1. Sew a 14” mint triangle to a 14” orange triangle on the short edge as shown. Press seam toward orange triangle.

Repeat to make a second sub-unit. Sew the two sub-units together to make a 13 1/4” Quarter Square Unit. Repeat to

make (4) of each mint/orange units.

2. Repeat Step 1, using the 14” purple triangles and the 14” red triangles. Press seams toward the purple triangles.

Pay close attention to the orientation of the leaves in the fabrics.

Quarter Square Units – Make 4 of each color

3. Sew (1) 13 5/8” mint half square triangle to (1) 13 5/8” autumn half square triangle, selecting according to the

illustration below. Repeat to make a total of (8) corners, paying close attention to the exploded quilt diagram for the

orientation of the print.

Half Square Corner Units – Make 4 of each color

4. Lay the Units out, as shown in the exploded quilt diagram. Sew the units into five rows.

5. Sew the five rows together to make the quilt center (64 1/4” x 64 1/4”).

6. Sew the 1 1/4” x 64 1/4” strips to the sides of the quilt center. Then sew the 1 1/4” x 65 3/4” strips to the top and

bottom of the quilt center. Press seams toward the strips.

7. Sew the 3 3/4” x 65 3/4” charcoal print strips to the sides of the quilt center. Then sew the 3 3/4” x 72 1/4” strips

to the top and bottom of the quilt center. Press seams toward the strips.

8. If using 42" backing fabric, remove the selvage edges from the backing pieces. Carefully join the pieces on the

long edges with a 1/2" seam allowance. Press seam open. Trim to make an 88” x 88” backing piece.

9. Layer the top with the backing and batting pieces. Quilt as desired. Trim batting and backing even with the top.

10. Join the black binding strips on the short ends with diagonal seams to make a long strip. Press seams in one

direction. Press the strip in half along the length with wrong sides together.

11. Bind the quilt edges using your favorite method to complete the quilt.
