Life Cycle
Fecal- Oral Route Infected person poops -> eggs in
feces -> person eats contaminated food/water -> eggs into digestive system -> hatch into larvae form -> burrow through intestine wall -> blood stream -> LUNGS -> coughed up and swallowed-> 2nd time in digestive tract (now mature) -> adults fertilize and females lay more eggs
Where is it found? Warm and Humid

SymptomsMild infection:
little/no symptoms, abdominal discomfort
Severe infection: intestinal blockage, stunted
growth, death

Diagnosis Use microscope to ID eggs
in stool sample
Worms passed in stool
Worms coughed up
X-ray
Treatment -azole medication
Can cause: Lack of ATP production in worms Blocking of glucose uptake in worms Worms to migrate to esophagus
