The importance of

Diplomas to the future UK

workforce Diplomas deliver skills that employers often complain school

leavers lack, most obviously functional skills in maths, English and ICT but also ‘Personal Learning and Thinking Skills’ (PLTs)

PLTs are the generic skills needed to be ‘Independent Enquirers’, ‘Team Workers’, ‘Effective Participants’, ‘Self Managers’, ‘Reflective Learners’ and ‘Creative Thinkers’

Many Diploma lines provide an opportunity for students to learn about industries not previously addressed in the school curriculum

Diplomas can help young people make more informed decisions about their future careers and study options

Members of the future workforce can be given a meaningful introduction to industries that are critical to all our futures at a younger age
