DOTTI SUNGLASSES DISPLAYWith Dotti’s white MDF fixtures, shelving and branding image, they were seeking a new design that would complement their current stores and bring about better aesthetic cohesion.

Research• First, the design team visited a few Dotti stores to study and note their

fixtures, textures, signage and branding.• They engaged store managers and staff to question the current design,

what they liked, disliked and how the current display was functioning. • Having grasped the look and feel of the brand, they used the existing

design language and infused it with something fresh.



IDEATION• GUSH’s lead designer on the project, David

Woon, set about sketching new ideas and possible concepts, testing forms, colours, and styles.

• As the display would be in store for a few years, we ensured the design would always be adaptable for future store changes and that the design aesthetic would not easily become dated.

• Using Solidworks, we translated the hand sketched ideas into 3D concepts, photo realistically rendered to reflect what the design would look like in reality.

DEVELOPMENT & ENGINEERING• Working with Gibson, we presented

3D rendered concepts, showing different styles and projecting possible stock holding numbers.

• Aside from crafting great design, functionality was always a consideration that went hand in hand.

• Once the design was chosen, we finalised stock holdings and developed and engineered the concept into something tangible.


DESIGN FEATURES• White acrylic body with timber panel faces.

• Clear acrylic nose pieces and clear acrylic trays helped create a floating aesthetic to the sunglasses.

• The header panels feature clear PVC caps that allowed for interchangeable graphics.

• The body sits on a rotatable timber base with wheels that are able to lock in place.


PRODUCTION• Once the client had signed off on the presented prototype, we refined the design

with our China suppliers and commenced production.

• Our China project management team visited the factory twice a week to manage and conduct quality control checks on each unit as they were being cut, printed, and assembled.

• Once production had concluded, a random batch of units were exclusively selected and checked for quality control purposes.

With a nationwide rollout, these displays were distributed all around Australia and New Zealand and are currently on display in Dotti stores.
