Sewing InstructionsBlock One1. Place (1) 2 ⅜” Fabric B square on top of (1) 2 ⅜” Fabric H square, right sides together. Draw a line across the diagonal of the top square (Fig. 1). Sew ¼” away from each side of the drawn diagonal line (Fig. 1). Cut the two squares apart on the drawn diagonal line (Fig. 2) to make (2) HB units (Fig. 3). Trim the HB units to measure 2” square. Repeat too make (12) HB units total.

35. Sew the (2) columns together to make the large quilt top.

36. Sew (1) 1 ½” x 36 ½” Fabric N strip to each side of the large quilt top. Sew (1) 1 ½” x 26” Fabric N strip to the top and to the bottom of the large quilt top.

37. Sew (1) 2 ½” x 38 ½” Fabric R strip to each side of the large quilt top. Sew (1) 2 ½” x 30” Fabric R strip to the top and to the bottom of the large quilt top.

38. Layer and quilt as desired.

39. Sew the (4) 2 ½” x WOF Fabric Q strips together, end to end with 45-degree seams, to make the binding. Fold this long strip in half lengthwise with wrong sides together and press.

40. Bind as desired.

41. Add buttons to the Fabric L, Fabric K and Fabric H strips for hanging the month sign, monthly scene and the “Welcome” sign.

Welcome Mini Quilt 42. Following the manufacturer’s instructions, trace the required number of each template onto the paper side of the fusible web. Roughly cut out each template about ⅛” outside the drawn lines.

43. Press each template onto the wrong side of the fabrics as listed on the templates. Cut out each template on the drawn lines.

44. Refer to Figure 36 to arrange and press the letters to spell “Welcome” onto the 4 ½” x 22” Fabric O strip.

45. Finish the raw edges of each shape with a decorative stitch such as a buttonhole or satin stitch.


47. Sew the (2) 2 ½” x WOF Fabric I strips together, end to end with 45-degree seams, to make the binding. Fold this long strip in half lengthwise with wrong sides together and press.


49. Use Pearl Cotton or ribbon to make (2) loops that will fit over the buttons on the main quilt. Sew each loop to the top of the Welcome Mini Quilt for hangers.

Monthly Mini Quilts50. Repeat Steps 42-45 and use Figure 37 for Fabric identification and location to make (12) monthly signs.


52. Sew the (2) 2 ½” x WOF assorted fabric strips (as listed in Figure 37) together, end to end with 45-degree seams, to make the binding. Fold this long strip in half lengthwise with wrong sides together and press.
