NDARAGWA PRESBYTERY REPORT
TO THE 22ND
GENERAL ASSEMBLY-APRIL 2018 INTRODUCTION
P.C.E.A. Ndaragwa Presbytery is seven years old. It was inaugurated on 21st March 2010. The Presbytery
stretches from Nyandarua County to parts of Laikipia County. It borders Iriani-ini Presbytery to the West,
Laikipia Presbytery to the North, Kieni West Presbytery to the East and Aberdare Presbytery to the South.
The Presbytery is made up of six Parishes namely:
Manguo - with its headquarters at P.C.E.A. Mairoinya church
Githima - with its headquarters at P.C.E.A. Karai church
Kanyagia - with its headquarters at P.C.E.A. Kanyagia church
Shamata - with its headquarters at P.C.E.A. Kaheho church
Murichu - with its headquarters at P.C.E.A. Ndaragwa Town Church
Gituamba - with its headquarters at P.C.E.A. Gituamba church
The Presbytery offices are situated at P.C.E.A. Mairoinya church in Manguo Parish.

3. CARE OF THE ENVIRONMENT
The Presbytery has maintained its policy that in order to improve the environment, trees should
be planted on every occasion involving laying of foundation stones, anniversaries, dedications
and has encouraged the Parishes that whenever there are Parish occasions they should do the
same.

SPIRITUAL GROWTH
1. Presbytery convention
The Presbytery held a convention from 23rd -26th November in Manguo Parish.
The theme was from Hebrews 12: 1-2.
4 members accepted Christ as their personal saviour.
During this convention, workshops were held to cater for different categories as
listed below:
- Children ministry.
- Youths
- Singles
- Widows and widowers.
- Couples below the age of 45 years.
- Couples above the age 45 years.
PARISH CONVENTIONS
a) Kanyagia Parish- Held their annual convention in August from 24th -27th
at P.C.E.A. S. Mbugua church where 12 souls came to Christ.
b) Githima Parish – held their annual convention from 24th -27th August at
P.C.E.A. Karai church.
c) Shamata Parish – Held a convention from 17th -20th August at PCEA
Kambaa Church where 4 souls came to Christ.
d) Manguo Parish – Held a convention from 24th – 27th August.
REVIVAL MEETINGS / PRAYER KESHAS
a. Kanyagia Parish held 3 revival meetings on 16th April, 21st May and 6th August.
They also held 3 prayer keshas on 31st March, 21st July and 17th November 2017.
b. Githima Parish held 3 revival meetings at P.C.E.A Nairobi, P.C.E.A. Kihingo and
PCEA Muthiga on 30th July 2017.
c. Shamata Parish held 2 revival meetings on 28th May and 29th October 2017 and
9 souls came to Christ.
d. Murichu Parish held a prayer Kesha on 25th August in PCEA Ndaragwa and 12
souls came to Christ.

e. Gituamba Parish held prayer kesha on 7th April and 1st December.
They also held a revival meeting on 4th August 2017.
2. Mission work
The presbytery annual mission was held on 27th -30th April in Murichu Parish – Judea Mission
Area.
During the mission, 36 souls came to Christ.
Githima Parish held a mission on 14th – 16th April 2017 at PCEA Mutarakwa church where 6 souls
came to Christ.
3. Seminars
Seminars were held in the following Parochial areas:-
- Kanyagia held a seminar in March for singles and widows and for
couples in July.
- Githima held preachers, praise in worship team and intercessors
seminar on 11th February at PCEA Karai church.
4. Presbytery Visitations and fundraising activities
The presbytery made special visitations in all parishes. During those visitations,
funds were raised to help these parishes meet their obligations.
The visits were as follows:-
a. Murichu Parish on 9th April 2017 where Kshs. 600,000/= was raised.
b. Gituamba Parish on 14th May 2017 where Kshs. 453,140 /= was raised
c. Kanyagia Parish on 23rd July 2017 where Kshs. 1,180,000 /= was raised.
d. Shamata Parish on 13th August 2017 where Kshs. 976,560/= was raised.
e. Manguo Parish on 20th August where Kshs. 1,263,989/= was raised.
f. Githima Parish on 10th September 2017 where Kshs. 452,200/= was raised.
g. Murichu Parish on 3rd December 2017 where Kshs. 487,030/= was raised.
5. Humanitarian Visits
A follow up visit to Rev. Stephen Chumo was made on 3rd November 2017. The family highly
appreciated.

PRESBYTERY ACTIVITIES
1. Presbytery meetings
- Five statutory meetings and four Category ‘A’ meetings were held.
- Four finance meetings were held.
2. Ministers and Spouses Fraternal meetings
- One ministers fraternal meeting was held on 03/02/2017 at the presbytery headquarters.
- Two ministers and spouses meetings were held in their residences:
i) Rev. John Ngugi on 11/04/2017
ii) Rev. Patrick Kimathi on 16/11/2017
3. Retirement of elders

5. Presbytery Elders and Ministers welfare meetings
- The presbytery was able to hold 2 welfare meetings which helped in enhancing
cohesiveness between Ministers and elders.
On 8th April 2017 - facilitated by Elder Samuel Mukuru. The topic was “The
Office of an Elder”.
On 5th November 2017 - facilitated by Rev. Jason Mwirichia. The topic was “
Bench Marking”
6. Inductions
The Presbytery inducted one minister:
1) Rev. Joseph Kosen Katampoi - Murichu Parish – 11.06.2017.
PROPOSED PRESBYTERY EVENTS
1) Proposed church dedications
a) P.C.E.A. Kirera church in Gituamba Parish. Date to be confirmed by the Outreach
Foundation.
2) Proposed Foundation Stone Laying
a) P.C.E.A. Amazing Grace in Githima Parish on 28.01.2018.
b) P.C.E.A. Pesi Riverside in Githima Parish on 11.02.2018.
ACHIEVEMENTS
Through effective Evangelism and Mission, 99 souls came to Christ.
Dedication of seven sanctuaries within the year under review.
As a Presbytery, we have embraced admirable team work.
The Presbytery has continued to sustain an evangelist in Judea Mission Area.
The presbytery was able to organize a bench marking seminar to enlighten the elders and
Ministers.
Successfully launched pulpit exchange in 3 parishes namely: -
- Githima on 9th July 2017.
- Kanyagia on 17th September 2017.
- Manguo on 29th October 2017.
One graduation ceremony on holistic nurturing of children in Manguo Parish where 10 members
graduated. The Director of T.E.E. graced the occasion. There are T.E.E. groups in other parochial
areas within the presbytery.

PRESBYTERIAL GROUPS AND COMMITTEES - KEY HIGHLIGHTS FROM JANUARY 2017-22ND JULY 2017
1. YOUTH FELLOWSHIP
- They held two rallies: in Githima on 19th March, and on 16th July in Murichu.
- There were 3 successful youth weddings.
2. WOMAN’S GUILD
- They held a leaders seminar on 2nd March 2017 at P.C.E.A. Mairoinya where 220 guild
members attended.
- 84 members attended national prayer at Kasarani.
- They held seminars for ladies on 18th April 2017 in Shamata and in Gituamba Parish
- Sponsoring the education of a needy girl in Ndaragwa Girls who will join form four next year.

3. CHRISTIAN EDUCATION
- They held workshops on:-
-Effective transition from brigade to youth fellowship.
- Negative influence of social media on youths.
- Drug and child abuse
4. BOYS & GIRLS BRIGADE
- Attended basic training on 26th-29th at P.C.E.A. Dr. Arthur.
5. HEALTH BOARD
- Held a seminar at Kanyagia on 31st March on effective leadership.
6. CHURCH SCHOOL
- They held a leadership seminar on 15th July 2017 at P.C.E.A. Ndaragwa Town church where
104 teachers attended.
- 28 teachers attended the national church school conference at Jomo Kenyatta high school
in Nakuru.
7. JPRC
- They held a seminar at Manguo Parish and the following topics were taught:
- Basic role of JPRC in the church and community.
- Conflict resolution.
8. PCMF
- Uji feeding programme has continued in most congregations and others are being
encouraged to start the same.
9. EVANGELISM
- Held 7 prayer meetings at P.C.E.A. St. Stephen.
- Evangelism committee has facilitated successful Parish rallies, revivals and prayer keshas
in the Parishes.

GROUPS RESTRUCTURING
The Presbytery welcomed and embraced the resolution on group restructuring and did the following:-
The Presbytery followed the guidelines from the office of the Secretary General on winding up
the Presbyterials by 22nd July 2017.
The Presbytery identified all the projects and properties which were documented.
ACTIVITIES AFTER RESTRUCTURING
A. WOMAN’S GUILD
- Visitations to the needy were done in all the Parishes.
- Shamata Parish held a seminar on women empowerment.
- Manguo Parish Guild is sponsoring a needy boy child in Kangui Secondary
school.
B. P.C.M.F
- Githima, Manguo and Gituamba Parishes managed to organize the rite of
passage program.
- The Uji program has been embraced in all the Parishes.
- Seminars have been held in all the six parishes.
- Shamata and Kanyagia visited the needy.
C. YOUTH FELLOWSHIP
- Seminars were held in Shamata and Murichu parishes.
- There were 2 prayer Keshas in Gituamba parish.
- Kanyagia Parish held a rally at Kihara P.C.E.A.
- Shamata and Kanyagia parishes held youth camps in their respective parishes.
- Manguo Parish held sports evangelism.
- Githima Parish continues to sponsor a needy boy in Ndivai Secondary school.
D. CHILDREN MINISTRY
- Kanyagia and Shamata Parishes visited sick and needy children and teachers.
- All the Parishes are prioritizing the issue of good learning facilities for the
children.

BENCH MARKING IMPLEMENTATION
- The Presbytery embraced the policy and held a workshop for all the ministers and elders in the
Presbytery in readiness for implementation in all the Parishes.
- A committee is already working on a bench mark document.
CHALLENGES
Adverse weather conditions affected the livelihood of our members.
Alcoholism in the society.
Drug and Substance Abuse.
Family breakups.
HOW TO OVERCOME THE CHALLENGES
a. Encouraging members to plant trees.
b. Sensitization on the dangers of Drug and Substance Abuse in different forums.
c. Holding family life seminars on regular basis.
d. Training members on alternative wealth creation.
FUTURE PLANS
1. Encouraging the Parishes to form SACCOs to empower members financially.
2. Sensitizing the Parishes on the need for acquiring modern communication technology so that
worship can be more appealing.
3. Seeing that Murichu Parish has 19 congregations, the Presbytery saw the need to curve a
mission area (Judea Mission) which has 8 congregations to facilitate easier pastoral oversight.
It’s the hope of the Presbytery that a Minister will be provided to shepherd Judea Mission Area.
4. Acquire land to build income generating projects and modern Presbytery offices.
CONCLUSION
We thank the Almighty God for enabling us to perform most of the activities despite numerous
challenges. All the activities were geared towards growing together holistically and improving one
another as the body of Christ. We acknowledge all the effort and the team work spirit displayed
throughout the year.
This far, the Lord has been faithful and His grace very sufficient.
