Thank you for your interest in our organisation. DMR Services is an established organisation with over 15 years’ experience of supporting vulnerable children and families and providing assessments and intervention to services users within a Residential and Community setting. DMR Services mission is to consistently provide service users with the highest quality care and support. Providing opportunities, encouragement and protection to individuals in relation to promoting their autonomy, independence and community involvement. We are committed to total quality concepts, and aim to continually improve services throughout the organisation.

This has been achieved by our continuous investment in the services we provide, by way of employing qualified and experienced clinical staff and the ability to retain them by investing in their future. This enables us to provide support through our Residential Homes and Community services provisions, offering a wider range of services for children, young people and families by employing a multi-disciplinary team which can be mobilised quickly.

DMR Services have an integrated ethos of collaborative child-centered working practice. An effective joint working partnership arrangement means everyones views, wishes and opinions are valued and respected. Therefore effective communication with children, parents, carers, professionals working directly with the families and other professionals is essential. Our objective is to promote a collaborative approach to the support and protection of children and young people. We aim to strengthen working relationships and therefore increase positive networks of support.

DMR Services ethical principles of service delivery are to be inclusive, holistic and flexible to meet the individual needs of service users and their safety is paramount. This informs our

practice, provides guidelines for policy decisions and contributes to the organisations ability to deliver a robust and effective service. This effectively contributes to our professionalism in meeting our statutory duties and responsibilities to ensure the safety of everyone. The ethos of our service delivery is to provide a multi-disciplinary team approach, as such our organisation has a team of professionals who are appropriately qualified, trained, supervised and are fully conversant with current social care practice. This is why DMR Services are able to provide a complete wrap-around service within all our provisions, which allows us to gain best outcomes for children, young people and families.

Being CHAS approved reduces duplication as suppliers compliance is accepted by all stakeholders. CHAS started with two main aims, to improve health and safety standards across all Industries and to reduce duplicated safety applications for both suppliers and stakeholders.

Welcome to DMR ServicesICHA is the only UK recognised Trade Association of Independent Residential Child Care providers. Providing information and networking opportunities for companies working in the independent sector and running residential children’s homes.

Cafcass represents children in family court cases. They make sure that children’s voices are heard and decisions are taken in their best interests. Cafcass are independent of the courts, social services, education and health authorities and all similar agencies. Cafcass stands for Children and Family Court Advisory and Support Service.

Family mediation gives separating couples an opportunity to decide for themselves what to do about their children and finances, with help and guidance from trained and impartial mediators.

This is an alternative to the more traditional legal approach using solicitors and maybe eventually asking a judge to make the key decisions which will shape the family’s future.

Open College Network is a national Awarding Organisation, regulated by Ofqual and the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA). The Open College Network Quality Endorsement Licence Plus (QEL+) is their highly valued ‘quality mark’ of trust that provides external endorsement to organisations that offer their own audit/accreditation services within a particular area of specialism or sector. DMR Services are proud to be an accredited member of the Open College Network and holder of QEL+.

CoramBAAF Adoption & Fostering Academy is the leading membership organisation dedicated to improving outcomes for children and young people in care by supporting the agencies and professionals who work with them. CoramBAAF focus on supporting and developing all areas of permanency in the UK -adoption, fostering, kinship care as well as returning children to their parents – and the legal orders that frame these.

Ofsted is the Office for Standards in Education, Children’s Services and Skills. They inspect and regulate services that care for children and young people, and services providing education and skills for learners of all ages.

The Approved Provider Standard (APS) is the national quality standard designed specifically for all types of mentoring and befriending projects. Projects which are assessed as meeting the requirements of the standard are accredited.

NACCC keep children in touch with parents following separation. Child contact centres and services are neutral places across the UK where children of separated families can enjoy contact with their non-resident parents and sometimes other family members, in a comfortable and safe environment. All NACCC child contact centres which offer supervised contact undergo an enhanced accreditation process.

The ‘Help and support for separated families’ (HSSF) mark is designed to help parents navigate the range of support available to them and choose, with confidence, a high-quality outlet to help. The mark is awarded following an independent assessment of organisations to show they meet a strict set of standards for promoting parents working together after relationship breakdown. Organisations need to show that they actively work to help parents collaborate constructively to arrange things for their children.

RESIDENTIAL BAIL & REMAND SERVICES

DMR Services has extensive experience in providing dedicated residential Bail and Remand placements for Young People throughout the West Midlands and Staffordshire. We work closely with Youth Offending Teams (YOT’s or YOS), Bail and Remand Teams, Probation Services, the Police, Education Providers and Local Authorities as an alternative to custody. Our multi-agency working partnership approach ensures that the Young People remanded to us are fully supported to comply with current legal orders and Bail and Remand conditions.

Our experienced team of professionals work with Young People to prevent re-offending through the application of stringent rules, high levels of supervision, appropriate risk assessments and positive eco-social reinforcement.

DMR Services provides residential Bail and Remand placements in the West Midlands and Staffordshire for Young People as an alternative to custody. An emphasis is placed on positive relationship building and a culturally diverse group of staff ensures the Young People we care for are treated with the utmost respect and dignity, with the necessary support and nurturing to help them cope. Our approach to residential Bail and Remand placements promotes informed decision making, which enables and assists our Young People to integrate safely back into the community with a positive outlook and a better understanding of themselves. We place great importance and priority on several key areas as part of our approach to residential Bail and Remand services. We believe that education is paramount to the success of a residential Bail and Remand placement. We promote education through a positive approach to the partnership links

with educational provisions we have nurtured within the area. Should a Young Person under the age of 16 already have a school placement, we would initially attempt to stabalise and sustain it, where possible and subject to bail conditions. Should this not be possible we would seek to enroll them into a dedicated provision.

For those Young People aged over 16 years, our experienced Education Officers would seek to enroll or sustain a college placement where appropriate. Our Education Officers and experienced staff team will attend statutory school or college meetings to help support the placement and discuss / initiate risk assessments as required. We actively promote cohesive practice and engagement through bespoke education agreements between Young People, staff and our education providers. In conjunction with this, we encourage Young People in our care to participate in a range of in-house educational activities. We also promote a range of IT based courses where Young People can achieve certificates in many accredited subjects. Enhanced learning opportunities are also delivered through educational trips to museums and other educational sites. Our qualified Substance Misuse Counsellors and Drug and Alcohol Support Workers play an integral part of our educational programme within our residential Bail and Remand provisions and will work with the Young People to raise their awareness of the risks and negative impact that abusing substances may have.

FOSTERING SERVICES

DMR Fostering Services focus is to provide a comprehensive range of foster placements with approved foster carers to meet the needs of children and young people who are looked after by their Local Authority and for whom it has been identified, as part of their Care Plan, that a foster placement is required to meet their needs. We aim to provide foster placements that offer a safe environment for the children placed, where the children have the opportunity to express their wishes and feelings, where they are listened to and their views respected and where they are aware of the diversity of the community of which they are a part.

DMR Fostering Services is committed to a holistic approach to behaviour, promoting a safe, secure and stable caring environment. Effective parenting, development, support and learning can only take place in an atmosphere that is purposeful and calm. It is a central aim to promote positive behaviour from everyone who works, lives and shares in the services offered. This will encourage everyone to interact with each other in a consistent and appropriate manner, built on mutual respect and understanding. We recognise the significant role that foster families play in supporting emotional and behavioural needs, which is often a highly challenging and complex process. DMR Fostering Service has developed specific support systems in this area, including access to professionals, specialised support staff, behavioural consultancy services, assessments and risk assessment tools, working closely with our in-house MDT Team and learning Centre.

We believe that every child has the right to a homely, safe environment where care, parenting and choice are provided within a confidential service. We believe that every child has the right to express his or her wishes and feelings, and to be respected as an individual. We recognise the need for children to be heard and receive relevant responses. We believe that every child has the right to be free from oppression and prejudice to enable them to develop their self-esteem, self-control, self-respect and the respect for others.

CHILDREN & FAMILY CONTACT CENTRE SERVICES

Our Family and Child Contact Centres located in Birmingham, Coventry, Derby, Telford & Wrekin and Wolverhampton are experienced in the delivery of a wide range of family contact services including both supported and supervised contact. We are an approved CAFCASS provider and have received enhanced accreditation through the National Association of Child Contact Centres. Our Family and Child Contact Centres offer a safe, comfortable, neutral and child friendly environment for children to meet with their non-resident parent(s) or other family members.

Referrals made to our Family and Child Contact Centres are managed by our dedicated contact team and are accepted under both Private and Public law arrangements. Where required, we produce full written reports of contact sessions, all of which are made available to the referrer.

Our Family Contact Centres located in Birmingham, Coventry, Derby, Telford & Wrekin and Wolverhampton are able to support the process of indirect and direct contact. Indirect contact may involve an adult having contact with a child through the use of a telephone, by post or through a video conferencing system such as Skype. Direct contact will involve the supervision of contact taking place in our centres or in the surrounding communities.

Our Family Contact Workers will explain the process of how our contact services work and the support families will receive during the process. Where appropriate this will also be discussed with the child.

The benefits of family contact services for children are:

• Knowing that they are cared about and have not been ‘deserted’

• Knowing that the non resident parent is ‘doing okay’, preventing feelings of guilt

• Growing up with a sense of their own completeness – having two parents

• Developing a full sense of their own identity – drawing from both parents, their backgrounds, cultures, personalities and physical features

• Being able to easily resume direct contact at some time in the future

• Having a further possible source of support, advice or guidance

• Learning more about how to manage a relationship in difficult circumstances – this helps children in their own relationships when they are older

Community Outreach

DMR Services are able to undertake a range of Young People and Families Community Outreach services and interventions to include Troubled Families as part of the Governments Priority Families strategy throughout the East and West Midlands in areas such as Birmingham, Walsall, Coventry, Wolverhampton, Derby, Telford and Wrekin, Nottingham and all other surrounding areas. Our team of qualified Social Workers and Intensive Family Support Workers among others are experienced in the delivery of a range of flexible Young People and Families Community Outreach services and interventions including Social Work Assessments, Drug and Alcohol testing, Safe and Well Checks, Family Crisis on call response, Mentoring and Befriending, Family Mediation, Educational Programmes including the Domestic Violence ‘Freedom Programme’ for perpetrators, victims and their children and also Priority Families including Family Group Conferences among others. We understand that patterns of family life vary and there is no single, perfect way of bringing up children. We believe that asking for help should be seen as a sign of responsibility rather than as a parenting failure.

Parenting and Family Support

Our parenting support services are available throughout the East and West Midlands in areas including Birmingham, Sandwell, Walsall, Coventry, Wolverhampton, Derby, Telford and Wrekin, Nottingham and all other surrounding areas. We are currently working with a number of Local Authorities across central England, offering flexible parenting support programmes to vulnerable families. Our parenting support packages are tailored to the individual needs of families and are often based upon outcomes directed by Local Authorities.

We offer a variety of parenting support packages which aim to address problematic behaviour, crime, anti-social behaviour, drugs, school attendance, mental health and a variety of other complex issues. The support offered to families is multifaceted but tends to focus around mentoring for children and young people in order to help them overcome a number of difficulties they may have in their lives. Children and young people are matched to a mentor who will support them in exploring their past and make positive choices in the future.

We also undertake extensive work with parents in order to build upon parenting capacity, overcome difficulties, increase their levels of confidence and self-esteem and provide emotional support. The primary aim of the service is to improve the outcomes for families and reduce the likelihood of a family breakdown, criminalised behaviour and increase attainment in education.
