• Who discovered it?

Christopher Columbus

• When?

1492 October 12

• How?

He went to ask many queens and kings

If they could give him money to go to Japan and prove that the world was round, but no one wanted to. So, some years later he went with queen Elizabeth and she gave him the money. Then he arrived to America thinking that it was Japan. Then he knew it was another continent, a new continent and he told all the people.

Perspectives Towards the Discovery of America

• Native Americans:

For us the discovery of America was bad because they killed a lot of us , they took our treasures, they made us their slaves and brought Catholicism.

Queen:

For me it was perfect because Ibecame rich and famous.

Navigation

• Navigation tools:

Sun ,stars and depth of water

Long time ago Sailors didn´t have any map or compass they only had sun ,stars and depth of water to guide them.

Compass

Compass is another navigation tool but it shows NORTH, SOUTH, WEST EAST to guide us.

The meaning of navigation is getting from one place to another.

Page 9: Discovering The World

GPS It has maps but you ask specially for a

place. It has streets and cities. You ask for a street and it gives you directions to go to that place. It needs electricity and it is the most modern navigation tool .

MapsThere are different kinds of maps

there are global maps that have all places in the world. A map of a continent has many countries. A map of a country has many cities and a map of a city has many streets. We use maps to guide ourselves or when we want to know where a place is.

Navigation leads us to new learning because when you are navigating you are exploring and when you are exploring you are with the purpose of learning something new.
