Digital Solution for the Financial Industry: Managing the transition from Lotus Notes to SharePoint 2013

SharePoint 2013, NET Framework 3.5/4, WWF, JavaScript, CSS, jQuery, Ajax, XML, CAML Queries/LINQ Queries. A mixed Waterfall - Agile approach.
It’s one of the most challenging Digital Workplace projects, in size and complexity. With an estimated workload of 600 man days, we managed the transition of their Lotus Notes platform to a modern Digital Workplace Environment. The successful transition was vital for the company’s near-future organizational efficiency, which required the new platform to fit the exigent standard requirements for specific financial workflows, processes and security.
In order to preserve the security relied by SharePoint, the organization opted for SharePoint 2013 as the main environment. On its base, further custom functionalities had to be developed from scratch. The actual transition consisted in migrating the Lotus Notes workflows, databases and information to SharePoint followed by the creation of a new and modern collaborative solution.
Complying with the organization’s requirements for quality: full functional reliability, flexibility and performance, we created the backbone of our application using a layer-based architecture, triggered by automated scripts and search functions: SharePoint 2010 Search was used here, as it was one that ticked most of the security issues.
ARCHITECTURAL LAYERS
Part of the application’s complexity was custom-developing SharePoint workflows. A number of 9 workflows were implemented, which included administrative functions such as: personal management, collateral administration and collaboration. WORKING WITH AD LDS
Aside architecture and workflow, we had the challenging task of connecting the organization’s database (SAP) with SharePoint through AD LDS.

Getting inside the mining industry: SharePoint Access Management Solution for on-site access approval

A world-leading player in the mining industry and the production of iron ore products.

Strategically devised for access management inside one of the largest company’s sites, where employee and visitor-fluctuation was high, the challenge was to enable a centralized control of access management (workflows), that would enhance mine security whilst integrating with their existing SharePoint platform. As so, the solution was to create a SharePoint app that fitted the entire access request workflow - until approval.
A team of 3 people was involved in the project, working on-site and remote.
The SharePoint App is now a single-access point to access approval inside the mine.
Having reusability in mind, we created the app as to be further used in other access management scenarios.

Empowering business insights through accessibility: Integrating SharePoint with SAP

With a world-spread presence and a complex business model, the organization benefitted from SharePoint’s usability and efficient Search Function in using SAP for document management. The challenge was to transform SharePoint into a point of access to the company’s insights in SAP. With the help of a specialized SAP team, we created a custom connector between SharePoint and SAP, which gave access to users to a stack of 800.000 documents in SAP.
Configuring the Fast Search, we enhanced the solution by creating a custom search box that allows pre-filtering data. Given SAP’s database complexity, we optimized data access by using a cache crawling solution, thus by increasing SharePoint’s integration performance with SAP.

SharePoint intranet solution for European leading travel agency

CHALLENGE
One of the most important travel agencies in Switzerland. The solution is used by 5.000 - up to 6.000 employees in SharePoint.
SharePoint 2013, MatchPoint
We developed the organization’s SharePoint platform into a complete & user-friendly intranet solution that would match the project’s requirements for: fast deployment, intuitive & branded UI and collaboration features like: Workspace, Content, People.
For rapid deployment, we used MatchPoint Framework. The outcome was an intranet solution that integrated essential collaboration features like: Search, Data Aggregation, Multilanguage Support and even a Newsroom module.Our team (SharePoint Consultant and Developer) contributed to the project’s user-friendliness and intuitiveness by proposing functional and data-architecture related solutions.

Streamlining organizational data through a SharePoint metro style tile navigation

CHALLENGE
With over 45.000 employees, the beneficiary is one of the world’s most reputed brands in the consumer goods industry.
To answer the company’s business needs for: collaboration mobility, quick access to information and a more efficient organizational communication, the challenge was to adapt the existing SharePoint platform’s look & feel for mobile navigation and to the company's need to streamline the most important information.
One of the project's challenges was to enable multiple level navigation, across 200 site collections.
Creating a web part that activates metro style tile navigation generated a consistent user experience, that could be afterwards easily enhanced.
INNOVATION
One of the highlights of the project is the ability to showcase live data in the site collection homepage by connecting to different web and data services as: RSS, Excel files or SharePoint lists/libraries.

Multi-industry SharePoint CLM (Contract Lifecycle Management) solution

CHALLENGE
The beneficiary is an ISV who wanted to build an out-of-the box SharePoint based product for Contract Management purposes.
Through a fusion between SharePoint and MatchPoint, we created a genuine CLM (Contract Lifecycle Management) solution that followed a comprehensive workflow: from deadline management, scanning (in the cloud) management - to reporting.
INNOVATION
As the product was developed within a flexible framework as MatchPoint is, the resulting solution is a reusable one: the contract management was built as a modular solution that can be configured to be used in different industries. SharePoint, as a platform, being ideal for collaboration, thus by contributing to an increased performance.
