Career Spotlight……

Digital Media Digital media is digitized content that can be transmitted over the internet or computer

networks. This can include text, audio, video, and graphics. Computer programs and

software; digital imagery, digital video; video games; web pages and websites,

including social media; data and databases; digital audio, such as mp3s; and e-books are

examples of digital media. News from a TV network, newspaper, magazine, etc. that are

presented on a website or blog can fall into this category also.

Digital Media Technology encompasses a wide range of career

possibilities, and salaries vary according to the type and size of

business.

Areas where you may exercise your digital expertise include

online, gaming, media, digital content, mobile/wireless,

advertising, social media and technology. Exciting work might

involve site optimization, web analytics, online ecommerce

trends, viral social media campaigns, virtual world development

and product marketing.

ranges for a few high demand careers in the Digital Media

Career Pathways Offered at BCHS

Choosing a career pathway in high school does not necessarily mean that students

must pursue this career pathway when they go off to college. Students may decide

to change their career pathway after they take certain courses. Please be mindful

that beginning with the Class of 2018 (current 10th graders), students who elect to

pursue the Jump Start TOPS Tech high school diploma must complete nine (9)

credits of electives toward a specific career pathway and earn credentials for that

career pathway. Below are career pathways offered at BCHS:

Digital Media and Entertainment Technology

Health Sciences – Patient Care and Management

Hospitality, Tourism, Culinary, and Retail

Manufacturing, Construction Crafts, and Logistics

MANDATORY SOPHOMORE PARENT MEETING

On Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at 6:30 pm in the school auditorium, BCHS

will host a mandatory meeting for the parents and or guardians of all

sophomores. Graduation and pathway requirements will be discussed. Once

again this is a mandatory meeting, students will not be scheduled for the 2016-

2017 school year if a parent or guardian does not attend.

By 10th grade, parents should start looking into FAFSA (Free Application for Federal

Student Aid) and LOSFA (Louisiana Office Student Financial Services).

Parents may want to:

Secure a Federal Student Aid ID (FSA ID). You'll need it to complete fed-

eral financial aid documents.

Check out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid FAFSA. It's the

first step in securing financial aid for a college education or technical

training. This should be done each year financial aid is needed.
