Cover Letter from Daniel M. Christensen 2014 Daniel M. Christensen [email protected] 516.492.8606 Dear Hiring Manager, Catch your eye and keep you reading. Be concise. Be interesting. Successfully provide a glimpse into my personality. Don’t overshare; I need you to want to learn more. To want to ask questions and have a conversation about where I’ve been. Discuss what I’ve done. And most importantly, what I’ve accomplished and how I can bring value. This is my challenge: In one page or less, I must be compelling and stand out. Keep you interested. Make you want to keep reading. All while knowing, on average, I have your attention for about 5-7 seconds. My goal (as with all things I do), is to surpass expectations; give 110%. This would entail keeping your attention for about 10-15 seconds. Wish me luck! So before I lose you, let me suggest you review my résumé now. I’ll wait here… I recently moved to the Raleigh area. Born in New York, I worked in South Florida the past four years. Most recently, I worked for a chain of arcades and restaurants across Florida called GameTime (similar to Dave & Busters). I was the Director of Marketing, and I independently managed all the marketing and advertising efforts. Bottom-to-top, I was the turn-key marketing solution. I managed a graphic artist and a small sales team, but most campaigns started and ended with me; from creation and development, to execution and analysis. It was a large company with a small marketing team. I was trusted to take initiative and do whatever necessary to obtain new customers and gain repeat business. Prior to GameTime, I worked at Zimmerman Advertising; one of Florida’s largest advertising agencies. As an Advertising Account Executive, I was tasked with keeping the client happy; above all else. My primary responsibilities were to manage the deadlines, workflows, calendars and expectations on both the agency and client side. As the point-of-contact for White Castle (the client) to the creative, media and digital teams (the agency), and vice-versa, I acted as liaison for all. Before entering the marketing/ advertising world, I spent several years as a network engineer and system administrator. I was a self-taught I.T. professional. If it could be done on a computer, I’ve troubleshot, repaired, built, installed and/or updated it. I’ve managed entire corporate networks, user directories and other technicians. I learned how technology works, how people use it and where it’s going in the future. It’s no surprise digital marketing is my professional passion of choice. Thank you if you’ve made it this far. I appreciate and value your time. I hope you review my résumé. And most importantly, I hope you’d like to speak about any opportunities you may have. If you’d like to obtain more information on me, please answer this (bad) riddle: When we want more information on a person, what’s the first thing we do? [Pause for dramatic effect] We Google them. And if I’m a candidate of interest, I’m sure you’ll do so for me. So, because you’ll Google me, I created a digital identity; a showcase for how I can build a digital brand from nothing. Google “BecauseYouGoogledMe,” or visit BecauseYouGoogledMe.com You’ll find a portfolio of my work. It’s my digital footprint at your fingertips. Respectfully, Daniel M. Christensen

Dear Hiring Manager:

This letter is my personal recommendation for Dan Christensen. Until just recently, I have been

Dan's immediate supervisor during his employment with GameTime. I found him to be

consistently pleasant, tackling all assignments with dedication and a smile.

Besides being a joy to work with, Dan is a take-charge person who is able to present creative

ideas and communicate the benefits. He has successfully developed several marketing plans

for our company that has resulted in increased revenue.

Though he was an asset to our marketing efforts, Dan was also extraordinarily helpful in other

areas of the company. In addition to writing effective content for our marketing collateral and

website, Dan assumed a leadership role in our graphics department, inspiring and motivating

ideas.

I highly recommend Dan Christensen for employment. I am convinced he will be as an asset to

your company as he has been to ours. Please feel free to contact me if you’d like any additional

information.

Sincerely,

Shirley Fields

To whom it may concern;

Dan Christensen has worked with GameTime since early 2013. Dan has proven time and time

again that he was a great choice for our newly developed marketing position. He came in to a

leadership role to develop and deploy a communication plan. He is leaving a very well organized

department for someone new to enter in to. We will miss him dearly and wish him the best

moving forward. We hope his new endeavors take him above and beyond his expectation. He has

and will make a great addition to any team fortunate enough to have an opportunity to have him

on it.

Feel free to contact me if I can be of any help.
