DGTL#U – Beirut was launched on Wednesday, September 19th, 2012 at the Movenpick Hotel in Beirut, Lebanon with the participation of more than 200 participant. International blogger and social media speaker Jeff Bullas introduced the concept of having two brands to the audience; nowadays, a business has to maintain an online and an offline identity, saying that being visible online gives way to competition on a global level. In the second panel, Hassan Mikail, E-Commerce Services Manager at Aramex, Mike Al-Mefleh, Research In Motion‘s Director of Product Management, Middle East and Rasha Rteil, Digital Planning Levant- Senior Exchange Manager at Mindshare discussed the mobile payments landscape, and the role of e-commerce as a driver of m-commerce in terms of consumer comfort with online banking, and mobile banking leading to more comfort with peer to peer payments, remote mobile payments and NFC payments. The DGTL#U – Beirut opening ceremony also witnessed the launch of the new IktissadEvents mobile application to be launched in November 2012. The app enables users to explore the calendar of upcoming conferences, consult agendas and lists of speakers, register online and get in contact with other participants.
