DESTINATION AUSTRALIA SCHOLARSHIP FACT SHEET TAFE Queensland is one of 35 tertiary education providers across 84 locations around Australia that has been successful in the 2020 round of the Destination Australia Program. The aim of the Destination Australia Program is to attract and support international and domestic students to study in regional Australia, to grow and develop regional Australian tertiary education providers and offer students a high quality learning experience. TAFE Queensland has a limited number of scholarships available for each regional campus location. These will be awarded on a merit based system and selection process. Scholarships are valued at $15,000AUD (per year, per student) and will go towards some or the full course tuition fee and will be available for students undertaking a Certificate IV and/or Diploma program at selected TAFE Queensland campuses. LIVE Cairns is the gateway to the stunning World Heritage- listed Great Barrier Reef and Daintree Rainforest, and attracts over two million visitors annually. The laid-back city boasts world-class sporting facilities, a swimming lagoon overlooking the picturesque Trinity Inlet, and a popular esplanade lined with cafes, restaurants and bustling markets. STUDY International students study at our Cairns campus, which is located just 2km from Cairns city centre. Our Cairns campus features student-run training facilities including a hair and beauty salon, restaurant, cafe and coffee shop, as well as a range of support services to help you achieve your personal, educational and employment goals. HOW TO APPLY

To be eligible to apply you must:

» Commence your studies in July 2020

» Be 18 years of age on or before course commencement

» Provide a valid passport with your application

» Provide a valid English test result (minimum level required equivalent to IELTS academic 5.5 no band less than 5.0) or accepted secondary qualifications (link it to our equivalencies table)

» Provide a certified copy in English of your year 11-12 academic transcripts and any later study

» Provide a personal statement explaining why you deserve this scholarship (maximum 300 words)

It is a requirement of this Scholarship that you:

» Are a new student to TAFE Queensland (current students are ineligible)

» Maintain ongoing residency in the regional area nominated for the entire duration of your study period.

» Maintain full time study in a Certificate IV and/or Diploma program and

» Adhere to all student visa conditions and TAFE Queensland Student policies
