Records and Tapes, a record label founded by Thurston Moore of Sonic Youth. My duties consist of video production and editing, updating artist and contact databases using Filemaker Pro, heading shipping with the help of in office postal service software Endicia, organizing email blasts with Mailchimp, and Constant Contact, optimizing the digital archives, utilizing social network platforms and assisting with promotion & publicity campaigns, among other responsibilities. These experiences working in the industry combined with my undergraduate course work have given me skills that I can bring to your workplace. I have a great work ethic and a real appreciation for good design principles. As indicated by my resume, I earned a B.A. in Visual Arts with a concentration in graphic design. I work in both digital and traditional media. In the summer of 2007, I worked as a graphic design intern for ICON Design, LLC. I developed strong analytical skills and gained industry experience working for the marketing and communications departments. While there, I created original designs for a brochure, edited product images, organized press-kits and catalogues, as well as created and maintained a master mailing list. I also provided web maintenance, researched Top 100 Design firms, and performed other office duties. I interacted with clientele, attended meetings, and worked with photographers towards creating a fine-tuned media package to represent the company image. Since then I have had a number of freelance opportunities, including creating promotional merchandise for multiple clients and generating flyers, album art and other materials for a rising local band. Dear Sir or Madam: I am a recent Smith College graduate writing to express my interest in applying for the position of Junior Graphic Designer. I am very excited to learn of this opportunity, as I am living locally in Northampton post-graduation and am planning a career in designing graphic art and digital media content. Relevant to this position, I have honed my creative and technical abilities in many professional industry standard software packages. I have experience in the industry working with Adobe Creative Suite 3.0 and the Final Cut Studio Production Suite, among others. I have had relevant experience creating brochures, flyers, catalogs and other press kits, both digital and in print. I have also used eCommerce CMS tools such as Zen Cart and Volusion, and am versed in social networking sites and new media marketing. For instance, a recent project was creating a custom Facebook Fan Page with FBML for a campaign called the Let Voters Decide Initiative. My training in hardware extends to equipment used in digital media, video production and photography. I am prepared to bring my knowledge of and training within these fields to your workplace.
