Th e goal of the REcentre is to refl ect and react to surrounding relationships, therefore establishing a program that creates a connection between the surrounding urban infrastructure and the REcentre itself. Th e bistro and the Chinese restaurant excavate an outdoor seating space, thanks to the community kitchen. Th e downtown residents now have a park for their families to play in, thanks to the adjoining daycare centre. And the learning centre now benefi ts from the REcentres chess park and library.
Th ese public spaces, like the rooftop garden, the playground, the market, and the chess ark all refl ect the needs of the Cambridge common.
Play, Learn, Trade, and Nourish.

An elongated stair and walkway travel the 4 levels of the centre, stopping at a reception area and
leading to either the auditorium or a continuation of the walkway. This walkway leads the occupant
up to the roof garden, with a stop on the third floor along the way to gain access to other spaces, like
the dance studio.

During my fi rst coop term I worked for GEC Architecture in Edmonton, Alberta. While working there, I helped produce presentation drawings for Peter Lougheed Hall. Th e project is a university residence that holds up to 143 stu-dents. Th e main fl oor has a more organic form, while the upper fl oors are much more regimented. Th is provides a nice street presence, while still maintaining the structure required for programming the dormrooms. All of the following work was done in collaboration with GEC Architecture.

Dehybridizationcollecting forms of extinction
What should a botanical garden be?
It is not a pristine sanctuary where the last remnant of an untouched, endangered, but still transcendent nature can for at least a little while longer be encountered without the contaminating taint of civili-zation. Instead, it is a product of that civilization. and could hardly be contaminated by the very stuff of which it is made."
('The trouble with wilderness, or getting back to the wrong nature' by William Cronnon)
A botanical garden should be an equal balance of give and take between species. Therefore this botanical garden will re-integrate plants into their native habitats through carbon-14 dating, grafting and seed col-lecting.
This botanical garden will help finance and exhibit the work that can be accomplished when experimenting with grafting extinct species to their hybridized selves. So far, plants going up to 40,000 years old can be brought back. But with this added facility these limits will be tested.
With this facility we can bringing back extinct species and attempt to re-create a balance between humans and plants.

A botanical garden should be an equal balance of give and take between species. Th is botanical garden project aims to re-integrate plants into their native habitats through carbon-14 dating, grafting and seed collecting. Th is botanical garden will help fi nance and exhibit the work that can be accomplished when experimenting with grafting extinct species to their hybridized selves. It is currently possible to bring back plants that have been extinct for up to 40,000 years through seed banking. Th e idea is to test the limits with this new facility, allowing us to bring back more extinct species, and attempt to re-establish a balance between humans and plants.

W2 Lormont
Over the course of my second coop term I worked with LAN in Paris, France. I helped illustrate and describe the essence of the Lormont project. Th e Lormont project consisted primarily of collective and social housing. It houses some 10,500 people and 50% of Lormonts population. It combines two diff erent but entirely complementary approaches: rehabilitation and identifi cation. Each residential group is reconfi gured into an identifi able entity.
More open and better equipped communal spaces create a genuine urban park within the site. Th e wood and concrete structures function as the classical elements of the romantic garden bandstands, pavilions, belvederes, terraces and fountains complement the existing landscaping. Within the site, the limits between each residential unit are marked by bands of greenery. All site photographs are credited to Julien Lanoo, and all graphics were done in collaboration with LAN.

Terraced o ces and community interaction
Situated to the west of downtown toronto, on the waterfront side of liberty village a tiered mixed-use o ce market hybrid rests along the gardener express-way. Four bays pivot axially and tier to catch maximum amounts of southern sun. Th ree atriums cut throughout the connections of the building allowing for a social green space that connects o ce to market. Th e building fl ows into a waterfront park that tiers down to meet the adjacent go station stop. Th e park contains event space, daycare facilities, outdoor market space, a chess park, cafe, and summer water feature/winter skating rink.
