Overview

The D-Link DES-1210 Series is the latest generationo Web Smart Switches. Equipped with 24 or 48

10/100Mbps ports, two 10/100/1000BASE-T ports,

and two combo 10/100/1000BASE-T/SFP ports,

the series integrates advanced management and

security unctions to provide perormance and

scalability. The DES-1210-28P is built with 10/100

Mbps ports that are PoE-enabled, oering ease-

o-use and green eatures like Time-based PoE and

Smart Fan. Time-based PoE can shut o PoE power

at a predetermined time, and the Smart Fan eature

allows the built-in ans to automatically turn on

at a certain temperature, providing continuous,

reliable, and eco-riendly operation o the switch.

Compliant with 802.3a and 802.3at, the DES-1210-28P is capable o eeding power o up to 30 watts

to devices. While easy to use, the DES-1210 Series

provides a complete and aordable solution or

small and medium businesses. Management options

or the switches include SNMP, Web Management,

SmartConsole Utility, and compact Command Lines.

The series also supports ACL ltering and the D-Link

Saeguard Engine. Furthermore, the DES-1210 Seriesuses Auto Voice VLAN, ensuring higher priority or

voice trac. Both models come with an innovative

anless design in 19 metal cases.

Seamless Integration

The Web Smart Switches are designed to provide SMBusers complete control over the network. With Ethernet

and Gigabit copper ports capable o connecting to

existing Cat.5 twisted-pair cables, these switches

eliminate the need or a complex reconguration

process. The DES-1210 Series allows or a fexible

connection to a backbone or servers. Additionally, all

ports support auto-negotiation o MDI/MDI-X crossover,

or congurable auto MDI, and thereore do away with

crossover cables or uplink ports. This brings inexpensi

and easy connectivity to your desktop.

ExtensiveLayer2FeaturesEquipped with a complete lineup o L2 eatures,

these switches include IGMP Snooping, Port

Mirroring, Spanning Tree and Link Aggregation

Control Protocol (LACP). The IEEE 802.3x Flow

Control unction allows servers to directly connect

to the switch or ast, reliable data transer. At

2000Mbps Full Duplex, the Gigabit ports provide

high-speed data pipes to servers with minimum

data transer loss. Network maintenance eatures

include Loopback Detection and Cable Diagnostic

Loopback Detection is used to detect loops create

by a specic port and automatically shut downthe aected port. Cable Diagnostics are designed

or network administrators to quickly examine the

quality o the copper cables and determine the typ

o cable error.

AutoSurveillanceVLANandBandwidthControThe DES-1210 Series supports Auto Surveillance

VLAN (ASV), and Auto Voice VLAN which are best

suited or VoIP and video surveillance deployments

Auto Surveillance VLAN is a new, industry-leading

technology that the D-Link Web Smart Switch serie

provides. This technology consolidates data and

surveillance video transmission through a single

Switch, thus sparing businesses the expense odedicated hardware and acilities. ASV also ensures

the quality o real-time video or monitoring and

control without compromising the transmission

o conventional network data. The Auto Voice

VLAN technology enhances the VoIP service by

automatically placing voice trac rom an IP

phone to an assigned VLAN. With higher priority

and individual VLAN, these eatures guarantee the

quality and security o VoIP trac. Furthermore,

the DSCP markings on Ethernet packets enable

dierent levels o service to be assigned to network

trac. As a result, these voice and video packetstake precedence over other packets. In addition,

with Bandwidth Control, network administrators

can reserve bandwidth or important unctions that

require a larger bandwidth or might have higher

priority.

SecureYourNetworkD-Links innovative Saeguard Engine protects

against trac fooding caused by virus attacks.

These switches also support 802.1X port-based

authentication, allowing the network to be

authenticated through external RADIUS servers.

In addition, the Access Control List (ACL) eature

enhances network security and protects the internal

IT network. The DES-1210 Series supports ARP

Spoong Prevention, which prevents the network

rom being cut o or eavesdropped by hackers

using aked ARPs. For added security, DHCP Server

Screening screens rogue DHCP server packets rom

user ports to prevent unauthorized IP assignment.

VersatileManagementThe new generation o Web Smart Switches provides

growing businesses simple and easy management

o their network using an intuitive SmartConsole

Utility or web-based management interace that

enables administrators to remotely control their

network down to the port level. The SmartConsoleUtility easily allows customers to discover multiple

network segment. With this utility, users do not

need to change the IP address o their PC and it

provides an easy initial setting o the Smart Switche

Switches with the same L2 network segment that

are connected to the users local PC are displayed o

screen or instant access. This allows extensive swit

discovered devices such as password changes and

rmware upgrades.

The DES-1210 Series also supports D-View 6.0 and

Command Line Interace (CLI) through Telnet. D-Vi

6.0 is a Network Management System that allows

or the central management o critical network

characteristics such as availability, reliability, resilien

and security in a consistent way. D-View 6.0 provid

a useul set o tools or network administrators who

want to eectively manage device congurations,

ault tolerance, perormance, and security. CLI

management through Telnet makes the adjustmen

o basic settings such as password changes or

rmware and conguration le uploads possible.
