Established OIKOS international student network and organized several interactive meeting for skill development for M.Sc and Ph.D students -Students have worked with public in Chennai city for participatory mapping. PG Students had been selected under Project Leadership Programme (PLP) of oikos and participated PLP in Switzerland

One Week Bridge Course on Basic Computing and its applications are conducted for 1st year M.Sc Applied Geography & M.Sc Spatial Information Technology Students Soft skill development Programmes: Career development, Guest lectures and Internships Paper presentation and participation at the National seminars, , UGC-NET training programmes, Virtual ESRI campus training programmes through on-line resources Students are encouraged to undergo on job training programme in a leading Industries/research institutes.

the on-line PG programmes of the department, 2009.

· Practical exposure in contemporary trend along with unvarying

curriculum.

· International exposure through various Faculty Exchange programme

· Inception of several online and Student – teachers exchange

programmes(through MoU’s inked with distinguished International

Strengthen the online M.Sc programmes (Joint award and dual degree

programmes) and collaboration research work with overseas Universities

· MoU with Anna University, IIT and other organizations to strengthen the technology based courses at PG level

· Partnership with UN-HABITAT for sustainable Urban Development research network

· Automation/ e-governance in all activities of the department · To get recognition from UGC-SAP and DST-FIST, United Nations

University and other international organization · To give training in GIS technology for local level officers for Village level

planning and M · To interact with industries for collaborative teaching, research and

establishment of labs. · To bring the department as a center of excellence in GIS.
