Scottish Rite Foundation Of Colorado

The Scottish Rite Foundation of Colorado (aka RiteCare Colorado) was incorporated on February 3, 1953, for the express purpose of treating childhood language disorders which impair the ability to communicate through speech or

written language. As the inaugural RiteCare program in the Southern Jurisdiction, the Scottish Rite Foundation of Colorado has evolved from one service location at Children’s Hospital Colorado to 20 communities around the state. In addition, speech therapy is now offered to outlying communities via the internet. Our caregiving partners include six hospitals, a non-profit clinic, two universities and two early language and literacy partners. Since its creation, the Foundation has provided therapy for more than 18,000 children and invested more than $35 million in their care.

ROSE CROIX FUNERAL Many families of deceased Scottish Rite Masons (Consistory Members) do not know that the Rose Croix Funeral Service is available to them. This is a very impressive and meaningful ceremony lasting from 15 to 20 minutes. It is designed to be given in the chapel or church, but can be adapted to grave side. It is not to be used to supplant the regular Masonic Committal Service; it can be used in conjunction with the Blue Lodge Funeral Service. The Correct Position During Scottish Rite Prayer

Predicated upon its basic

foundation of belief in a personal God, the Scottish Rite gives primary importance in its Degrees and at its meetings to prayer. While there is an established position and sign to be used by all Scottish Rite Masons

during prayer this position and sign are sometimes not uniformly practiced. All Scottish Rite Masons (except when engaged in Ritual at the altar) stand during prayer, with caps remaining on the head as part of a uniform. What is also required is giving the accompanying “Sign of the Good Shepherd”. This is done by folding the arms left over right, with the outstretched fingers touching the shoulders. The position is comfortable and easily remembered if it is realized the sign represents the Good Shepherd carrying a lamb around his neck and holding its feet by his crossed hands. During the prayer, in this position, the head is slightly bowed. The practice of this prayer position and sign, and their explanation and demonstration to all candidates, will add much to the meaningfulness of our devotions.
