Enrolling in the Public Relations program at the University of Regina

was a great way to complement my Bachelor of Arts degree with a

professional certificate. I was able to secure a full-time position on

the basis I would complete the certificate in the near future. Just

the simple fact of seeing the program pay off for me right away was

incredibly reassuring.

Whether you are interested in public relations as a career, or just

want to improve your communications skills for the workplace, the PR

certificate at the U of R certainly warrants consideration.

Many of my classmates were already working for private companies,

government departments, non-profits and even the university itself.

They saw the PR certificate as a great way to advance in their careers,

and I enthusiastically agree. It has certainly helped me.

Prior Learning Assessment & Recognition

You may be in a situation where you want to start or jump back into university after

spending several years in the workforce. If you have previous work or volunteer

experience or skills training, you can potentially earn university credits for your

experience to use toward a degree program.

• Experience flexible learning by trying first-year courses online or face-to-face in local high schools

• Get acquainted with the university campus

• Take advantage of university services like the library, fitness centre and more

2525

I believe that the UR Accelerated program helped me better prepare for

University because it gave me a strong idea of what the work load would be

like, which many other students don’t understand until they are actually in

classes full time, and that gave me an advantage over other students.

The program helped me meet new people and make more friends before

I started as a full-time student, so that I wouldn’t be starting university

without knowing any of the students or professors. I got to know my way

around campus better, and became familiar with the University’s resources.

These were all great things, because when I finally started University full-

time I didn’t have any of the culture shock that other students sometimes

have. I knew what to expect from my classes, and I knew where to get help

if I needed it.

I would encourage any high school student who wants to get a taste of

university before they start full-time to try this program because it gives

you such a strong introduction to university life.
