RELIGIOUS EDUCATION CLASSES: There will be no Classes January 1st due to Christmas break. We’ll resume Jan. 8th.

CONFIRMATION RETREAT: The mandatory Confirmation Retreat is on Sunday, January 19th. We will carpool from

the Parish Center, leaving at 8:30am. We will arrive back around 6:30pm.

SNACKS: The 3rd Grade students should bring a snack to share during the month January. Please make sure this snack is

easily distributed and not messy. Crackers, non-iced cookies, pretzels, granola bars, etc. are all good options! Thank you!!

COFFEE, ROLLS & CAKE: Join us for coffee & rolls in the Parish Center after the 9:00am Mass on Sun-

day, January 5th. Cake will also be served to celebrate the January birthdays and anniversaries. The parish

nurses will also be on hand to take your blood pressure if you wish.

CHOOSE LIFE LICENSE PLATES: Christians for Life is now taking pre-orders for the new "Choose LIFE" Kansas license

plates. The plate will not be available until 2020. The cost to pre-order is $40 per vehicle plus $1.20 for processing fee for online orders. They

are required to gather the first 1,000 committed orders before the Kansas Department of Revenue (KDOR) can make the Choose LIFE plate.

You may place your order on their website at: https://www.chooselifeplate.com. Christians for Life and Concerned Women of America will

email you a receipt so you know that your order and payment have been received. Once they have collected 1,000 registrations, KDOR will

mail you a certificate to pick up your license plate in your county. If you aren't interested in purchasing one of the first 1,000 Choose LIFE

plates, you can still donate to this cause and all money donated will go toward the $40,000 needed to begin production.

TAKE DOWN CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS: We will take down the Christmas decorations after the 9am Mass

on Sunday, January 12, 2020.

NEW MINISTERS SCHEDULES: The new schedules for January—April are completed and are in the vestibule

to be picked up. Please take a moment to pick yours up. (REMEMBER, be sure to take yours, they have your name

on them.)

MATCHING DONATIONS: Did you know that your employer may match your church contributions up to a certain amount? Superior Essex of Hoisington is one employer that does this. Check with your employer and get “more bang for your buck!” It’s VERY easy to do, call Loretta for more information.

THE ROSARY: There is power in the Rosary! Kansans fought to enter the Union as a Free State. We must fight again to pro-tect life in the womb by amending the State Constitution. Join the State-Wide Rosary Crusade. The plan is simple: On Thursdays, all across Kansas, par ishes, families, individuals, or other groups will pray a Rosary for the passage of a State Constitutional amendment rejecting abortion as a Constitutional right. Time and place are up to those praying. The Five Luminous Mysteries are traditionally prayed on Thursdays, but those praying are free to experiment, as long as the in-tention is kept in mind.

Catholic Apps As the new calendar year approaches and we start to think about resolutions, you might consider making spiritual resolutions. To help tackle some of the more common, and yet very important ap-proaches (praying, reading scripture, etc.), here are some free apps that might be of assistance: Pray Catholic Novena Prayers: Novenas are separated by the month of their feast days. You can set reminders on your phone to prompt you each of the 9 days during the novena to pray at a

specific time. The prayers are typically quite short, but novenas have often been given credit for answering many prayer intentions. Holy Rosary Audio: The prayers and mysteries of the rosary are recited out loud, along with a short meditation for each mystery. Laudate - #1 Catholic App: This includes everything from common (and uncommon) prayers, daily readings, the Liturgy of Hours, Saints of the day, and podcasts.

Bible - Catholic Study: This includes the Bible, along with commentary. There is also some free con tent from the Augustine Institute available. If you wish to, additional content may be purchased, but it is not necessary to access the Bible or commentary.

SAVE THE DATE: The World Day for Consecrated

Life will be celebrated Saturday, February 1, 2020 at St.

Andrew Parish in Wright. Mass will be celebrated at

10:30am, followed by a social and dinner. All the faithful

are invited to take part in this wonderful day to support and

ioners of St. John Hoisington and St. Ann’s Olmitz for

your generous outpouring of love towards me through

sent my way during this Christmas season. Thank you

all very much. May God continue to bless you all abun-

dantly in the New Year and always.

On a separate note, I am on vacation from Sunday, Dec.

29, 2019 to Jan. 30, 2020. During this time, I will be in

Nigeria visiting with family and friends. In my absence,

PRO-LIFE PILGRIMAGE TO TOPEKA:

Stand up for life in our state and join us on the 47th anniversary of Roe vs. Wade Pro-Life Pilgrimage to Topeka. The bus will depart

from the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe parking lot at 5pm on January 21 and travel to Prince of Peace in Great Bend to pick up

additional passengers and then arrive in Topeka for an overnight stay. On January 22, the day begins with the Ignite Event at the

Topeka Performing Arts Center, Mass with the Kansas Bishops, march to the Capitol steps and tours of the Capitol. There will be a

dinner stop in Salina and the group should arrive back in Dodge City around 10pm. Cost is only $65. The dinner stop and additional

PRO-LIFE PILGRIMAGE TO WASHINGTON DC:

Join the Catholic Diocese of Dodge City on the March for Life Pilgrimage to Washington, DC, January 22-26. Trip will include a public

Rosary at Planned Parenthood, daily Mass, including Mass at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, "Life

is Very Good" rally, tour of Arlington National Cemetery and monuments. Cost per participant is $450 which includes the cost of the

BLESSING OF BABIES: Parish members are invited to participate in the Blessing of Babies where expect-

ing mothers receive a rose and a blessing from Father. Families can then place their rose under the church’s statue

of Mary & continue to pray the blessing along with the entire parish until birth. Each rose possesses a holy medal

which can then be presented at the child’s baptism. Father asks that families, mothers, fathers, grandparents, fami-

ly members who would like to celebrate this new life to call the parish office at 653-2963 and set up a time for

their baby’s rose presentation & blessing.
