Chase Chargers are Charging for a Change
Chase Farms is very proud of the Chargers!
On November 9th, the Chase Chargers set out to Walmart on 101A in Nashua to raise money for the New Hampshire Food Bank. This food bank supplies and aids numerous shelters and pantries throughout the state. These tough girls braved the seasonably cold temperatures to help people in need. They did an
exceptional job. They raised $1,157 to give to the food bank. On November 27th, they were able to deliver their money to the food bank, they even got themselves a cameo on News 9! Great job girls, we are so proud of you!
Also, a big thanks goes to Tricia Harding for organizing this event and all the parents that helped out!
Horse in the
Spotlight
Kalaramas Mae Mercer“Maisy”
Maisy joined Chase Farms as a yearling from Kalarama Farm. Maisy’s by French Legionarre x Kalarama’s Singing The Blues. She was purchased by the Capodilupo family in 2010. Maisy’s first show experience was Syracuse International Horse Show in 2012. She tagged along with the Chase Farms gang to get some horse show experience. Her first actual show was Octoberfest in 2012, where Colleen showed Maisy in a 3 year old class. She did a great job her first time in a show ring. Maisy is 4 years old and loves mints and apples. She equally loves attention and has a sneezing habit when she gets nervous. Owner Madeline says her favorite color is purple and red and her favorite quote is “Go Big or Go Home “. Maisy is located in the main barn, two stalls from the show tack room.
Rider in the Spotlight: Hannah Dekarski Hanna started riding when she was about 8 years old. She started off riding once a week, then quickly picked up an additional lesson to focus on her skills. Hannah jumped right into showing in the Academy WT leadline division. She has shown seven shows, on two different horses: Jewel and Vinny. Amazingly, in those seven shows, she has won four blue ribbons and 2 red ribbons. Her favorite memory is riding Vinny at Octoberest this past October, and cantering is her favorite to work on at home. Winter is this rider’s favorite season because of her other hobby, skiing! Hannah is a true animal lover, she shares her love for Vinny (her favorite horse) with her two Golden Retrievers, Chloe & Molly. Hannah competed for the first time off leadline December 8 to two red ribbons! We are very proud of you hannah Hannah dream horse to ride is Emmet because he is fast and huge! Her advice to new riders: If you work hard and try your best you can accomplish many things.

Tournament Information
Our winter tournament season is already underway. These local, day shows offer a great introduction to show or, for more experienced riders, a chance to gain further showing experience and confidence for the 2014 show season. There are a range of classes from “leadline walk” to “adult w/t/c” Riders are required to wear riding boots, gloves, Kentucky jodhpurs, a helmet, and an academy shirt/vest is preferred. New riders that may not have an academy outfit can wear a fitted, solid colored vest and a long sleeve shirt.Riders must participate in two tournaments in order to qualify for the Tournament finals which are held in April in West Springfield, MA at the UPHA Spring Premiere Horse Show. December Tournament: Chrislar Farm
We had quite a succesful kick of tournament of the season. Abbie Palker showed the young Kalarama’s Ultimate Student to a top 3 place in the Open Park Class. Emily Vanduren took home the blue in the Advanced 17 & under equitation class, and well as the Reserve in the showmanshp. Allegra Dotti showed the 2 year old Kalarama’s Big Easy “Biggie” in his first show to a nice ribbon. This young horse was a superstar. Meghan Scott took on cantering for the first time with our beloved Vinny in the Intermediate 17 & under division. She placed fourth out of seven in showmanship, and fifth out of seven in equitation. Way to go Meghan! Olivia Whitten placed third in equitation in the Intermediate 17 & under. This concluded our morning session. LIsa Palker kicked off the afternoon with a Blue in the Advanced Adult equitation with Itchy! In showmanship she took home the yellow ribbon. Emily Vanduren came back to win the Intermediate pattern class out of 6 riders! Our leadliners made us very proud. Phoebe Constanteneau, in her first tournament ever, took home the blue in showmanship out of 5 kids! Way to go Phoebe. She took home the yellow in equitation. Arden Cavallo and Ava Mansperger, both in there debut tournaments, did a great job. Arden was third in both of her classes, and Ava was fourth, and fifth. We look forward to what these young riders will do in the future. Jordan Tedesco, in her first tournament ever, took on the walk-trot division. She had a nice ride, placing fourth in both her classes. We are very proud of this rider for her determination. Hannah Dekarski finished off the day, pinning second in both of her classes with five riders. This was her first time off leadline. All Chase Farm riders made us very proud this past weekend. Thanks to the parents for getting the kids there, and as always our wonderful staff!
This years essay question is as follows:
Who is your greatest equestrian mentor and what are some lessons you have learned from him/her?
There is three: $500 scholorships, and one grand prize. The money may be used for anything horse approved by the committee such as lessons, shows, tack or any equine purpose. There is three age groups. We encourage all our tournament riders to participate!

A Friendly Reminder from Your Instructors!
Proper riding attire is required during your lessons at Chase Farms. Kentucky jodhpurs and riding boots are preferred, although long pants and a boot with a heel are allowed. Having the proper riding attire can help a rider grow their skills. We ask that if your rider has been taking lessons continuously for more than three months that you look into purchasing your rider their own helmet, a pair of jodhpurs and riding boots. With the holidays coming up, it would make the perfect gift! If you have any questions, please ask your instructor!
