Traditional Lottery Retailer Training -Update
• The 10 minute mobile enabled training is now complete and we will be sharing it with you today!
• Pilot program:• in October 52 Jacksons,
convenience store chain, launched the training pilot program
• Over 392 Jacksons employees completed the training
• Statewide Rollout• Beginning in January 2018, Field
Sales Staff will begin promoting the Traditional training to the remaining Lottery retailers Statewide
• Next steps:• Work to begin on refresher training
modules for Oregon Lottery employees as well as more advanced training for our player facing staff

Problem Gambling Treatment Workforce
Development Planning Project
Presented by Jeff Marotta, PhD consultant from Problem Gambling Solutions, Inc.
Background
• Funds earmarked for PGS workforce development have accumulated due to saving from a vacant Problem Gambling Treatment Coordinator position.
• We want to utilize this opportunity to assess our current situation and future needs in order to build a multi-year workforce development plan.

State General Updates:PG Treatment Position
• We are excited to announce that a Problem Gambling Treatment and Recovery Specialist position within our state team has been approved, posted for recruitment and closes December 31, 2017.
• This is a new position within our team that will assist with the implementation of the PGS 5 year plan, along with program development and system improvement.

• Motivational Text Messaging Program– For Gambler, Family and available in English and Spanish– 1-2 texts a week for 3 months– People sign up through the helpline– All helpline caller are offered this service– Implemented in July 2017– Consider signing up as a clinician to better understand the services– Offer to your existing clients as a resource.

State Prevention Updates• 2016-2017 Problem Gambling Prevention Outreach and Awareness
Grants aimed at increasing awareness of problem gambling in the adult population, and the availability of treatment for the problem gambler, and their loved ones are wrapping up in December. Results from the 17 funded projects will be available early next year.
• PGS Prevention has rolled out a new reporting system that tracks progress toward the goals in the individual providers biennial implementation plan.
• PGS Prevention is developing a PG Prevention Coordinator training series. The goal is to have as many of the trainings be available online to promote ease of access to the information and remove training barriers.

State Prevention Updates
• Problem Gambling Services funded Prevention Providers have the opportunity to participate in a Community Readiness Assessment.– Community readiness assessment will assess their individual communities
at-large and leadership readiness to address problem gambling and awareness level of resources.
– Readiness assessment findings will provide guidance for next biennium planning.
– New positive community norm communication tools that are being developed and will roll out in Spring 2019 will be cross walked to the readiness level scores.
– Provide 3,000 foot view of readiness at the State level.– Letters of intent from PGS Prevention Providers with proposed budget are
due by January 15th.
