Let us know… Hospitals do not call the parishes when a parishioner is

admitted to the hospital, due to issues of confidentiality. If the patient gives permission to the admitting office, the Chaplain or nurse in the hospital to call the patient’s parish then the hospital may call us. Therefore, it is important for the family or close friends to notify the Parish Ministry Center if you, a member of your family, or any parishioner is sick or admitted to the hospital.

Also, a reminder that Fr. Bruce is available and willing to give you the Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick. If you plan to go into the hospital, please contact the parish office. He can anoint you before you go, or anytime as you need.

GET INVOLVED IN YOUR PARISH!

St. Elizabeth’s Parish is a community that is defined by it’s tradition of dedicated parishioners who continue to ignite the spirit of Catholic beliefs. We recognize the importance of our 92 year history of dedication to faith, family and community. The founders of St. Elizabeth’s Parish leave a rich heritage. Their faith-filled legacy is a gift to all of us and we will use their commitment as an impetuous to assist us as we implement a plan for the future.

The parish Vision and Planning committee has been diligent in attempting to create goals for the improvement of our parish. Considering the input from parishioners after our recent parish town hall meeting, one of those goals is to strengthen the parish community with the assistance of a parish ministry coordinator. That individual would be responsible for promoting parish ministries by monthly contact with each ministry leader and coordinating with the parish staff to insure that each ministry is successful.

St. Elizabeth’s has six ministries of outreach, eleven ministries of worship, seven ministries that spread the good news of the Word and thirteen ministries that build community. The time commitment for this volunteer position is about 5 hours a month. It is our hope that you might choose to share your gifts with our community to assist us as we endeavor to insure the continuation of our faith-filled parish mission. If you are interested or have questions please call Bill Egelhoff at 816-361-4265 or email [email protected].

A Stewardship Moment St. Paul offers a timely stewardship message: Pray

always, live a life of gratitude and seek holiness. During this week of Advent, spend some time in prayer reflecting on what it means to be grateful, compassionate and unselfish. Discover opportunities to say, ―Thank you.‖ Go out of your way to do something for someone else.

Welcome Home Our Parish Mission

December 15-18, 2008 DON'T MISS ANY OF THIS EXCITING TIME

FOR OUR PARISH COMMUNITY! What is a Mission?

Our Mission is much like a parish retreat. It will

be held over 4 nights beginning December 15. Liturgies begin at 7pm each night.

Our mission is being led by Fr. Michael Mulhearn, a Vincentian priest.

The heart of all Vincentian missions is the celebration of the Eucharist and the Sacrament of Reconciliation.

The mission talk is, in essence, an extended homily that incorporates our theme in each liturgy celebrated during the Mission. Fr. Mulhearn will be presider and homilist for each and every liturgy during our Mission week. Essential to our evening celebration during the mission is our social gathering that immediately follows our evening liturgies. It is a time for fellowship among parishioners, as well as a good time for people to make appointments with Fr. Mulhearn.
