Dear diary, Today, I’ve had a bad situation with my homeowner, Frau Heller. I had brought my boyfriend, Markus, into the house because of a mishap at his house. But when Frau saw me with Markus, she instantly kicked him out, and accused me, saying, “What do you think? You think I don’t know anything about your ‘secret prostitution’!?” ( Satrapi 67) I was so angry with her… I wanted to insult her, but I had made a promise to my mother not to… Bad things just keep on happening here. ~Marji

Dear diary,Today, I’ve had a bad situation with my homeowner, Frau Heller.

Dear Diary,Well, today was especially horrible. I just want to go home… As it turns out, Markus was always a huge jerk, as I caught him with another girl. He told me, “…I love you Marjane, you must believe me, I love you…”. (Satrapi 78) To which I promptly ignored and insulted him. He kicked me out of his house. I miss home so much, and the fact that I also had a fight with Frau didn’t help. I just wanted to get out… too much conflict and change is going on. I’m in the streets right now, and I just want to go home.-Marji

Dear Diary,Wow, what an eventful few weeks I’ve had… On the street, I had collapsed from what turned out to be tuberculosis. Luckily, I was taken to the hospital to be fully treated. Now I was very convinced to go back to my home in Iran. I had reconciled with a few people, (except for Frau,) and headed straight back for Iran. Today is my first night back. Though I have to wear a veil everywhere, it’s better than being ridiculed for everything I do.-Marji
