DEAR DIARYCLOUDED MINDS
GLM SISTERS
I HAVE DOUBTS…
WASWASAH AFFECTS 3 AREAS OF OUR LIFE
+ FAITH
+ WORSHIP
+ RELATIONSHIPS
Once Shaytaan gets our attention in one area, he keeps coming back and progressing to
the next level
Individual Task
Identify the area of YOUR life the doubts are creeping into
WRITE ON THE POST-IT NOTE AND STICK IT ON
THE WHITE BOARDDo not write your name!
Case 1
Shaytaan 1st comes for your Taharah -Wudhu
Dear Diary…
“I'm really struggling with my wudhu!
I'm just not sure if I'm cleaning myself properly…what if there is some splash back for the toilet when I do istanja? What if I got something on my clothes…
I think I should just get in the shower just to be sure …but doing this 5 times a day is just so difficult…I really don’t know what to do!”
Shaytaan then moves in for the real target – Your Salah
“Salah is too difficult…”
+ “I'm going through all this doubt about my wudhu and repeating it over and over …can take
me an hour in the bathroom!
+ Then comes the salah! Ya Allah! I just can’t remember how many rakat I read…now I'm
even forgetting WHAT I’ve actually read…sometimes I can’t even remember Surah al
Fatiha…”
“Maybe I should just leave my salah…Allah knows I’m suffering”
Case 2
Shaytaan next comes for your relationships
Dear Diary…
I’m just blocked in my life
Dear Diary…
“I wear hijab, I pray, I look after my parents , I've stayed away from haram relationships…I make dua ALL the time
BUT STILL IM NOT MARRIED!
Why are my duas not answered?
How is this fair when girls who don’t even pray salah have gotten married!”
Case 3
Now he has your attention, he goes for the kill
DOUBTS ABOUT ALLAH!
Dear Diary…
+ “If Allah is Merciful, why does my mum have cancer?
+ She is the sweetest person, never hurts anyone, always praying and making
dua.
+ How is this fair? Why is Allah doing this to her?”
Having these inner doubts is not the real
problem
A believer will not be punished for the waswasah that comes from the Shaytan or from his own nafs
2 conditions
Does not speak of it
Or act upon it
Q. Is the doubt becoming an action?
It is narrated on the authority of Abu Huraira that some people from amongst the Companions of the Apostle ( ( صلى الله عليه وسلم came to him and said:
+ It is narrated on the authority of Abu Huraira that some people from amongst the Companions of the Messenger
( ( صلى الله عليه وسلم came to him and said:
+ “Verily we perceive in our minds that which every one of us considers it too grave to express.”
+ He (the Holy Prophet) said: Do you really perceive it? They said: Yes. Upon this he remarked: That is the faith
manifest.
+ Sahih Muslim 1:239
Correct understanding of this hadith:
DO NOT SPEAK OF IT OR ACT UPON IT
Do not let Shaytaan make you despair
You will not be punished for the negative thoughts
Narrated Abu Huraira:
+ The Prophet ( ( صلى الله عليه وسلم said, "Allah has accepted my invocation to
forgive what whispers in the hearts of my followers, unless they
put it to action or utter it."
+ Sahih Bukhari 3:46:70
Narrated Abu Huraira:
+ The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم ) said, "Allah forgives my followers those (evil deeds) their souls may whisper or suggest to them as long as they do not act (on it) or speak."
+ Sahih Bukhari 8:78:657
It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said:
+ "The Messenger of Allah said: 'Allah, the Mighty and Sublime, has forgiven
my Ummah for what is whispered to them or what enters their minds, so
long as they do not act upon it or speak of it.'"

NOTES
It was narrated from 'Abdullah bin Mughaffal that the Prophet ( ( صلى الله عليه وسلم said:
+ "None of you should urinate in the place where he bathes, for most Waswas
(devilish whispers)] come from that." i.e., with regard to whether the urine has
soiled his body or not.
+ Sunan an-Nasa'i 1:36:1
It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said:
+ "The Messenger of Allah ( ( صلى الله عليه وسلم said: 'When the call to prayer is given, the Shaitan runs
away breaking wind loudly. When the Iqamah is completed, he comes back and whispers to
a man in his ear, until he does not know how many (rak'ahs) he has prayed. If any one of
you notices that, let him prostrate twice.'"
+ Sunan an-Nasa'i 13:1254:1
It was narrated that Ibrahim bin Suwaid said:+ "Alqamah prayed five (rak'ahs) and was told about that. He said: 'Did I really do that?' I nodded yes. He
said: 'What about you, O odd-eyed one?' I said: 'Yes'. So he prostrated twice, then he narrated to us
from 'Abdullah that the Prophet ( ( صلى الله عليه وسلم prayed five (rak'ahs), and the people whispered to one another, then
they said to him: 'Has something been added the prayer?' He said: 'No.' So they told him, and he turned
around and prostrated twice, then he said: 'I am only human; I forget as you forget.'"
+ Sunan an-Nasa'i 13:1257:1
It was narrated from Al-Hakam, from his father+ That when the Messenger of Allah ( ( صلى الله عليه وسلم performed Wudu', he would take a handful of water and
do this with it.
+ Shu'bah described it: "He would sprinkle his private parts with it.“
+ The purpose is to ward off devilish whispers lest the person think any emission has taken place, and thus think that his Wudu' has been invalidated.
