OVERVIEW
DCWEEK is a week long festival in the US capital focused on bringing together designers, developers, entrepreneurs, and social innovators of all kinds. It’s a series of 100s of distributed events powered by the community and complemented by core conferences, parties, and projects created by the festival organizers iStrategyLabs and Tech Cocktail. DCWEEK 2011 included over 10,000 attendees from around the world and was presented by Ford.

DCWEEK Opening Party: 11.2.12The DCWEEK Opening Party rocks the town
each year. 2011 showcased 8 emerging local
bands, selected by 22,000 fans who voted
over 45,000 times, culminating in a sellout
1,500 person show at DC’s Fabled 9:30 Club.
DCWEEK Hackathon: 11.3 - 11.4Each year over 300 developers turn out for
the DCWEEK Hackathon. $25,000+ in prizes
were available this past year. During the
event, dozens of apps are developed, and
several companies are created.

inspirational evening for over 2000
attendees to enjoy. Our speakers have

From SXSW to New York to DC - Tech Cocktail has been mixing up the entrepreneurial community in mass for years. The DCWEEK edition of this tech demo and networking event sees 1000s of attendees and is a key part of connecting people during the festival.

DCWEEK Closing Party: 11.9.12Our closing party is one of the biggest tech
events in the country — with over 2,000 in
attendance last year and over 3,000 expected

As if parties, keynotes, conferences and sessions all across the region weren’t enough to keep you engaged during DCWEEK, the DCWEEK Projects platform features numerous things attendees can do during the festival.
Whether it be building a web app, teaching a class, or providing pro-bono consulting to a non-profit, there’s something for everyone.

In 2011, over 150 events were created and hosted by DCWEEK attendees. All you need is a conference room/venue and something interesting to convene about and we’ll add it to the festival calendar.
As a sponsor, if you see something you’d like to support, we’ll work with you and the organizer to put together the right activation.

Hackathon specifics
Teams will compete to build new mobile and web apps over the course of a weekend. Participants can register as teams; if a designer/developer needs to join a team they will be matched prior to the hackathon. The event is limited to 300 attendees. Last year there were 200 RSVPs.
The draft agenda is as follows and includes lightning talks about specific APIs and Data of interest and a full 36 hours of hacking, culminating in a live demo/live judging wrap up at the end of the day.
We expect $10,000+ in prizes to be up for grabs across Music, Mobile, Civic and Other App categories.

Prize Pool Details
There will be 4 categories of prizes for apps built during the hackathon: Music, Mobile, Civic and Other.
There will be a panel of judges selected by DCWEEK; representing Investors, Entrepreneurs, Tech Companies and Sponsors who will judge the apps built during the hackathon. All prizes will be awarded the final night of the hackathon.
If you have in-kind products/services to contribute to the prize pool we’re happy to add you as an in-kind sponsor. Products/services of interest include:
