Report 2015-16

The college re-opened on 15th

June 2015.

It is a matter of pride to state that D.A.V. Velankar College of Commerce has been re-

accredited by NAAC with A grade and Institutional CGPA is 3.01

Individual Achievement:

1. Dr. K. A. Pandey : Dr. K. A. Pandey took charge as an In-charge Principal from July,

2015 and is also selected as a Professor. She has been invited as a Resource Person at

Navodaya Vidyalay, Tuljapur to deliver a lecture on „Classroom Management‟ to

teachers of the state of Maharashtra, Karnataka and Goa. She has been the Key

speaker for the Workshops of Entrepreneurship, Filing of e-returns and has given

presentation for inter college students on MBA as a Career. She has inaugurated a

number of programmes such as Library Day, NSS Programs, NSS Camps,

Workshops, etc.

She has attended NCC ATC camps at Soregaon, Solapur and has guided the

cadets who have won a number of prizes and medals. She has organised District level

Yoga Camp at Soregaon, Solapur on the occasion of celebrating International Yoga

Day. She has also conducted Blood donation camp, rally for right to vote and

cleanliness drive campaign at Ashok Chowk area, Solapur and has organised the NCC

„B‟ art exam in our college. She has organised the district level „B‟ certificate exam in

our college. She has to her credit 3 papers published at National Level and 2 at

International Level journals.

2. Dr. S. M. Aherkar :

Two books of Dr. S. M. Aherkar are published by Shraddha Publication, Solapur

in July 2015 and Dec. 2015. The titles of the books are

a) Statistics for all volume I; July, 2015

b) Statistics for all volume II; December, 2015

3. Dr. D. C. Nanaware :

a) Dr. Rautrao Shivkumar and Dr. Ranaware Raviraj are awarded with Ph.D. in

English under his guidance during academic year 2015-16.

b) He has been invited as the Resource Person by IQAC of Gogate – Joglekar

College, Ratnagiri to deliver lecture on Research Study on 12th

September, 2015

and has also inaugurated Life Long learning Centre on 13th

September, 2015.

c) He has Inaugurated Language Literary Association as the Chief Guest at Santosh

Bhimrao Patil College, Mandrup on 2nd

Sept., 2015.

d) He was invited as Resource Person at University Level Workshop on literatures in

English BA III Special English at A. R. Burla Mahila Varishta Mahavidyalaya,

Solapur on 19th

December, 2015.

e) He was the Resource Person at University Level Workshop on Revised syllabus of

M.A. Part I English B.A. III Special English at Walchand at Walchand College of

Arts and Science, Solapur.

f) He has successfully completed Diploma in Mass Communication and Journalism

from YCMOU, Nashik and has stood first in the University merit list and is

awarded with Shri Dadasaheb Potnis prize for standing first in the university.

g) Dr. D. C. Nanaware was invited to chair the session at the National Conference on

„Communication Plus: Empowering Language Learners through Effective

Listening and Active Vocabulary‟ organized by English Language Teaching

Institute of Symbiosis, Pune (part of Symbiosis International University )

h) He has conducted the Seven Day workshop on Communicative English for the

staff of V.V.P. Engineering College, Solapur.

4. Dr. S. V. Shinde :

a) Dr. S. V. Shinde was promoted from Assistant Professor to Associate Professor

b) He has been sanctioned Major Research Project from ICSSR worth Rs. 480000/-

c) He has attended 3 National Conference and has also presented papers.

d) He has published 2 papers in National Level Journals.

e) He has worked as a Resource Person at the B.Com-III New Syllabus Seminar

organised by Sangameshwar College and Solapur University, Solapur.

Commerce Association Activities 2015-16

1) On 28th

June, 2015 a lecture of Shri. Anand Joshi, Director TIME Academy, on

Bank PO and Clerical Exam was organised.

2) On 1st July programmes were organized on account of Digital India Week

declared by Hon. Prime Minister of India.

On 1st July 2015 our all faculty members along with Principal attended direct

telecast of Inauguration Ceremony of Digital India Week Programme at

Conference Hall of the College.

On 2nd

July 2015 an Essay Competition on various issues of Digitalization in India

was organised. In all, 33 students participated in the competition Mr. Muskan A.

Somani secured 1st rank, Miss. Priyanka C. Lagashetti secured 2

nd rank and Mr.

Piyush M. Joshi secured 3rd

rank in the competition.

On 3rd

July, 2015 an elocution competition was organised. 39 students have

participated in this competition. Miss. K. S. Vadaje secured 1st rank in the

competition, Miss. A. S. Gundla and Mr. R. D. Khade secured 2nd

rank and 3rd

rank respectively.

On 6th

July, 2015 a practical session was organised in computer laboratory of

BCA section of our college for our students. 50 students participated in it. Prof. S.

B. Bhavikatti gave practical training in the session. The students got an

opportunity to handle computer and to get important information relating to

digitalization.

On 7th

July, 2015 Guest lecture of Prof. Miss. K. M. Deshpande, D.B.F. Dayanand

College of Arts and Science, Solapur was organised on the subject Digitalization.

In her lecture she focused on importance of information relating to digitalization,

e-commerce, e-governance and information and communication technology.

3) On 17th

July, a lecture on Career Opportunities in Commerce was organized. The

Chairman of Solapur Branch of Western India Regional Council of Institute of

Chartered Accountants of India, CA. S. G. Ingale, Vice-Chairman, CA. Sunil

Agrawal and Secretary Shri. Dinesh were the key speakers. The focus was on CA

and CS as a career.

4) On 20th

July, 2015 Shri. Budhalkar of ICWAI Pune Chapter of Cost Accountants,

Solapur Unit was invited to deliver a lecture on „ICWA as a Career‟.

5) On 25th

July, 2015 Shri. Vyankatesh Pawar of Yash Institute, Solapur delivered a

lecture on Short Term Course on CNC machines in which employment

opportunity is available in the market.

6) On 11th

September, 2015 a 3 day workshop on „Entrepreneurship Awareness‟ was

organised. This programme was arranged in Joint collaboration with Maharashtra

State Entrepreneurship Development Centre, Aurangabad and District Industrial

Centre Solapur. 110 students participated in it. The expert team consisted of Mr.

R. R. Shinde, Mr. Arvind Joshi, Mr. Nagesh Kokare, Mrs. N. V. Nhavkar, Mr.

Ramchandra Waghmare and Mrs. Ram Sutar of MSED and DIC Solapur who

guided the students.

7) On 28th

Dec. 2015 Mrugadh M. Human Resource Mananger, Horizon Data

Systems Ltd. Solapur was invited as a guest lecture for presentation on company

profile of „Infinity Data Technologies Pvt. Ltd.‟

8) On 16 Jan 2016 a worksop by Vikrant Jindall and from Consumer

Guidance Society of India Mumbai was organized on Food

2) On 5th

Sept 2015 Teachers Day was celebrated by students of B.Com III.

3) On 15th Sept. 2015 a team of 4 students participated in the intercollegiate

elocution competition held at Sangmeshwar College, Solapur. Miss. Shruti

Shrikant Yelshatti of XI won the consolation prize.

4) On 30th

August, 2015 „Bhartiya Sankruti Pariksha‟ organised by Vivekanand

Kendra, Solapur was held in our college. Total 178 students appeared for this

exam.

5) A training on meditation was organised for students. Shri. Yogesh Sapane and

Shri. Amol Joshi from Mumbai guided the students regarding meditation with

practical session.

6) On the occasion of birth anniversary of Dr. Abdul Kalam „Vachan Prerana Diwas‟

was celebrated on 16th

October, 2015.

7) On 16th

Oct a Passport Camp for students and Staff is organized.

Cultural – Youth Festival :

a. On 16th

July, 2015 interaction programme with ZEE MARATHI TV Serial

Artists of DIL DOSTI DUNIYADARI with UG students was organised.

b. From 9th to12th Oct 2015 Youth festival was organized in Sinhgad College

Solapur. Our college student Pratik Chavan won the trophy for best Acting in

One Act Play at university level.

NSS :

a) The Inauguration function of NSS programme was held at the hands of Dr. B. N.

Kamble, Co-ordinator NSS, Solapur University, Solapur.

b) On 11th July, NSS volunteers participated in a rally „Save the Girl Child‟

organized by Family Planning Association of India.

c) On 17th June, 2015 a programme of Tree Plantation was conducted in the vicinity

of College at the hands of C.A. Shri. S. G. Ingale (Vice Chairman Solapur Branch

of WIRC of ICAI) as the Chief Guest. At that time NSS volunteers along with

programme officer S. A. Patel participated in the programme.

d) On 24th

Sept., 2015 NSS day was celebrated in our college. A programme of Tree

Plantation was conducted at the hands of Principal Dr. Smt. K. A. Pandey was

conducted. At that time NSS volunteers and programme officer Prof. S. A. Patel

was present. Shramdan was also conducted.

e) On 1st October, 2015 „Senior Citizen Day‟ was celebrated in our college. Senior

citizen interacted with the students and gave guidance to them.

f) On 26th

November, 2015 ‘Samvidhan Day’ was celebrated in our college. At that

time programme officer Prof. S. A. Patel explained importance of occasion.

Principal Dr. Smt. K. A. Pandey read out preamble of Indian Constitution. Along

with her NSS Volunteers also read the preamble.

g) On 1st

December, 2015 NSS volunteers participated in a rally oraganised by

Ashwini Hospital on occasion of World Aids Day.

h) A cleanliness drive was conducted by NSS volunteers along with NCC cadets at

Ashok Chowk area. Along with NSS volunteers Principal Capt. Dr. K. A. Pandey

and programme officer Prof S. A. Patel also participated in it.

i) On 22nd

December, 2015 a special progarmme was organised by NSS in which a

MOU was entered into between college and Samarth Jeshta Nagrik Mandal,

Shelgi Parisar whereby it was agreed over that NSS volunteers will serve the

senior citizen in shelgi area to solve their problems.

j) On 12th

January, 2016 a special lecture on ‘Raktnal Pedhi’ of Dr. Raja Dhepe was

organised by NSS Department Principal Dr. K. A. Padney, Prof. S. A. Patel along

with NSS volunteers participated in it.

k) NSS volunteer Akash Jadhav was selected for the Pre-Republic Day Parade, State

Level Camp, from 9 to 11 September 2015, organised by Division Office,

Ministry of Youth and Sports, Maharashtra at Nanded University, Nanded.

l) A special winter camp was organized at Doddi Taluka South Solapur from 24

January, 2016 to 30 January, 2016. Students along with programme officer Shri

Patel S. A. reached at Doddi on 24th

January, 2016. Inauguration Ceremony of

camp was organized on 25th

January, 2016. During camp NSS volunteers

conducted various types of activities. Tree Plantation, Cleaning Campaign,

Digging Trenches, Rally etc. were major activities. A rally of all NSS volunteers

was organized on 26th

January, 2016 Republic Day. Prof M. D. Katap and Prof. L.

M. Abhange delivered lectures for students and villagers. NSS girl volunteers

conducted socio economic survey of the families in village. NSS volunteers also

conducted cultural activities. They performed street play in village too.

NCC :

NCC Girls :

a) The total Strength of NCC girls is 54. The NCC cadets have passed the „B‟ and

„C‟ certificate exam. The passing percentage is 85and 90%.

b) A University Level Camp was Organised by 9 Mah Bn. NCC at Sahastrarjun

School, Shelgi, Solapur. SUO Shreya Irape won the Gold medal in weapon

training and silver medal in Quiz competition. CHM. Sultana Pathan 2nd

prize in

tug-of-war. CDT. Varsharani sarvade won the gold medal for Solo dance.

c) A university level camp was organized by 38 Mah. Bn. NCC Solapur at SRPF

Soregoan. SUO Shreya Irape won the gold medal as BEST CAMP SENIOR.

CDT. Poonam Morde won the gold medal for Solo dance. SUO. Shreya Irape won

the trophy Best group Dance. Cdt. Mayuri Gavali won the First Prize (Trophy) for

the Best group song.

d) A State Level camp was organized at Group HQ Pune by 36 Mah Bn NCC Pune

Cdt Namrata Chavan won the gold medal for best group dance and she is also

participate in TSC (IGC).

e) A Inter-University camp Pre-RDC-CATC was conducted at Pune by 38Mah Bn

NCC Solapur. Cdt. Shradha Gulaskar won Silver Medal each for throw ball.

f) The National Integration camp was held at ANDRA -PRADESH which was

conducted by 10 TELANGANA BATALION ANDRA –PRADESH SUO. Shreya

Irape – CPL. Sudharani Bhutnale won the 1st Prize for group song and also won

the 2nd

prize in best group dance.

g) The NCC B Certificate exam was conducted in our college on 6th

and 7th

February, 2016. Cpt. Dr. K. A. Pandey was the Board Member for the same.

h) The Cadet are also participated in social service programme Of Blood Donation

organised in the college. The cadet also participated in Rally for cleaning

awareness and right to vote.

NCC Boys:

a) The total Strength of NCC boys is 53. The NCC cadets have passed the „B‟ and

„C‟ certificate exam. The passing percentage is 80 and 100%.

b) A University Level Camp was Organised by 9 Mah Bn. NCC at Sahastrarjun

School, Shelgi, Solapur. JUO Pankaj Gaikwad and group won the first prize in

Group Dance and received a Trophy. They also won a Trophy for being 2nd

in

Volleyball.

c) A university level camp was organized by 38 Mah. Bn. NCC Solapur at SRPF

Soregoan. JUO Pankaj Gaikwad and group won the first prize in Group Dance and

received a Trophy. CQSM Niranjan Ware won the 1st prize for Solo Song.

d) CQSM Niranjan ware, Cadet Sanjay Mane and Kiran Kantali participated in the

Army Attachment Camp at Nagar.

e) The Cadet are also participated in social service programme Of Blood Donation

organised in the college. The cadet also participated in Rally for cleaning

awareness and right to vote.

Sports :

Shri Vivekanand Deshpande won the first prize of Best Physique 55 kg at

university level and was selected for all India Inter University tournaments.

Counseling Cell :

On 25th

August a lecture on counseling for girls was held. Dr. Manjusha

Chaphalkar was the Chief Guest for the function. She was also appointed as the Lady

counselor for the counseling cell for girls. Smt. R R Vajanam , Smt. Sneha Aursang

Smt. R. S. Birajdar organized the Function.

Industrial Visit :

On 7th

Sept. 2015, an industrial visit to Precision Camshafts Pvt. Ltd. Solapur was

organised for M. Com. Students.

Senior Citizen Service Association (Best Practice):

a) On 1st October 2015 International Senior Citizen Day was celebrated.Dr. A. S. Halli

and Prof. S. A. Patel organized the programme. Senior citizen Shri. Inde B. R., Shri.

Jadhav D. S. , Shri. Ashok Khanapure, Shri. Gadade V. L. and Shri. Mhanta B. S.

were felicitated. There was an interaction between the students and the senior citizens

on Role of Youth towards Senior Citizens and future. It was decided to start “The

Caring Club” by the students and to work for the senior citizens.

b) On 13th

Aug 2015 Dr. K. A. Pandey, Dr. A. S. Halli, Shri. C. L. Tonape, Shri. S. A.

Patel, Smt. Sneha Aursang, Smt. Dhannamma Ganechari, Smt. Renuka Birajdar

attended the Foundation Day Programme of Samarth Jyeshtha Nagrik Sangh, Shelgi

Parisar, Solapur and gave information about Senior Citizen Service Association

formed in DAV Velankar College Of Commerce Solapur and the activities that will

be carried out to serve the senior citizens. The senior citizens were invited to sign the

memorandum of Understanding with D.A.V. Velankar College Of Commerce Solapur

Senior Citizen Service Association on 22nd

c) On 22nd

Dec 2015 85 Senior Citizens were present for the programme of Signing the

MOU with DAV Velankar College Of Commerce Solapur Senior Citizen Service

Association. The major objective of Signing this MOU was to create awareness about

responsibility towards Senior citizens, to understand their social responsibility, to

develop the personality of the Youth through Social work, to imbibe human Values in

the youth by seeking guidance from the Senior citizens and learning by sharing the

experiences of the Senior citizens.

d) On 14th

January, 2016 Makar Sankranti was celebrated along with Lady Senior

Citizens of Senior Citizen Service Association

e) Dr. A. S. Halli and Senior Citizens visited the camp site and delivered lectures.

MoU‟s :

On 15th

July, 2015 MoU was signed with Chhatrapati Shivaji Night College,

Solapur for Guest lectures, research work, publication of books, etc.

On 1st August, 2015 MoU was signed with H. N. College of Commerce,

Solapur for sharing of knowledge, spoken tutorials, research work, etc.

On 1st October, 2015 „International Senior Citizen Day‟ was celebrated. Senior

Citizen Shri. Indie B. R., Shri. D. S. Jadhav, Shri. Ashok Khanapure, Shri. Gadade V.

L. and Shri. Mhanta B. S. was felicitated. There was an interaction between the

students and the senior citizens on „Role of Youth towards Senior Citizens and

Future‟.

Placement Cell – Campus Interview :

a) On 29th

Dec campus interview by Horizon Data Systems Ltd., Solapur HRM Shri.

Mrugad conducted a Campus Interview for students of B.COM III M.COM II and

BCA III. 33 students are selected in round II

b) Mr. Peeyush Joshi was selected By TCS Pune in the campus interview arranged at

Sangameshwar College Solapur.

c) On 13th

Swaroop Communication team came for campus interview specifically

for placement of Girls.

d) 37 Students attended the Campus Interview conducted by Infosis Company At

Walchand College Solapur.

e) On 29th

February, 2016 a Campus Interview is being arranged in our college. The

HRM of ICICI Bank will be conducting the campus interview.

Avishkar (Student Research Cell)

Three day‟s workshop on entrepreneurship awareness was organised form 11th

September, 2015 to 13th

September 2015 in collaboration with Maharashtra centre for

entrepreneurship Development (MCED), Aurangabad 108 students were benefited this

workshop.

Different surveys were conducted by students on different issues like surrogate

advertisement, socio-economic condition and problems of cribbage cleaner womens from

Solapur etc.

At University Level Avishkar Research Festival held on 30th

and 31st December,

2015 at Lokmangal Wadala. Miss. Priyanka C. Lagashetti and Miss. Mulani Rukhar has

won 2nd

prize at UG level and Miss Nivedita Joshi and Miss Tejaswini Sarwade has won

2nd

prize at P.G. level category.

University level research paper presentation competition on “Entrepreneurship

Collaboration and Modern Management” Miss. Priyanka P. Badlapure and Miss. Sai S.

Kavathekar has own 1st prize organised at S. S. A. Arts and Commerce College Solapur

on 7th

Jan, 2016.

CA-CPT Guidance Cell

Miss Gavai of B.Com I stood 1st in the district in CA CPT Exam. 2 students enrolled

themselves in CA –CPT Guidance cell.

Competitive Exam - Three students participated in the General Knowledge Competition

organized by Sangameshwar College Solapur and won trophy and certificates on securing

3rd

prize. Shri Tonape C L led the team as a team Manager.

Yojakatva : College Magazine

Miss. Sharad Gaikwad BCA II and Miss. Priyanka Dolase BCA II won The First prize at

for their Articles In the university level college magazine Competition.

B.C.A.

Welcome Function

BCA-II and BCA-III year organizes welcome function for new students i.e. for first

year student.

Our welcome function was organised 30th

July 2015. All B.C.A. – I, B.C.A. – II and

B.C.A. – III student present on the welcome function.

For this welcome function Mr. Bhavikatti Suhas and Mrs. Ligade Gayatri was event

co-ordinator. All B.C.A. staff were attended the function.

Presentation Competition (For B.C.A. – I, II, III)

To improve the students presentation skills presentation competition was organised

for B.C.A.-I, II, III. On 1st August, 2015.

Miss. Aursang Sneha and Miss. Swami Madhuri was judge for the competition. All

students are participated in the competition. Mrs. Gayatri Ligade event co-ordinator of the

competition.

Seminar on “System Development life cycle”

On 11th

August 2015 B.C.A. department organizes seminar on “System department

life cycle” by Mrs. Deshapande Mrunalini for B.C.A. students.

Mrs. Gayatri Ligade was event Co-ordinator for this seminar. All B.C.A. – II and

B.C.A.- III year students were attended the seminar.

Guest Lecture on “Concept Map”

On 28th

August, 2015 B.C.A. department organizes Guest Lecture by Mrs. Sura

Shradha on “Concept Map”.

All B.C.A.-I, B.C.A.- II and B.C.A. – III year students were attended for the Guest

Lecture. Miss. Swami Madhuri was event co-ordinator for this Guest Lecture. Miss. Dolse

Priyanka was anchor for the Guest Lecture. She is from B.C.A. – III year.

Teachers Day Celebration

On 5th

September 2015 students of B.C.A. section celebrated teachers day for faculty

members. They celebrated this day differently senior students conducted lectures in junior

students class. B.C.A. – III conducted lectures in B.C.A.- II year and B.C.A. – I year and

B.C.A. – II year conducted lectures in B.C.A. –I year class. Time table was prepared for this

day.

Later on, after all the lectures students organize the formal program for all faculty

members.

Mr. Chandrashekhar Ingale (B.C.A. – I) and Miss. Smita Hiremath gave speech on

this occasion. Miss. Annapurna Chinta ( B.C.A. – II) and Mr. Manthalkar Dhiraj (B.C.A. – II)

was anchors for the event.

Mr. Bhavikatti and Mrs. Ligade was event co-ordinator for this event. All staff

members were attended the same.

Industrial Visit

On 20th

October, 2015 B.C.A. departments organizes industrial visit to precision

camshaft, Solapur and Srujan Foods Pvt. Solapur. Mr. Bhavikatti S. B. and Mrs. Ligade

Gayatri were in-charge for the industrial visit. Total 35 students present for the industrial

visit.

M.B.A.

Fresher‟s Welcome Function, Date : 26/08/2015

Welcome function for the fresher was been organised. On the occasion students were

welcomed by giving chocolates as token of love. Our respected Principal Dr. Kirti Pandey

give a brief introduction about the institution and course. Different games were organised and

all MBA students actively participated in that.

Teacher Day, Date : 05/09/2015

On occasion of teacher day the event was been started with Deep Prajwalan by

Principal Madam and staff members. MBA students Miss. Shruti Govinde and Miss. Nivedita

Joshi gava speech on the same. MBA student conducted lectures for BCA department

student.

Seminar on „Concept Mapping‟, Date : 15/09/2015

Seminar on concept mapping was organised for MBA students. The main motive to

organise seminar was to make the concept understanding more clearly with diagrammatic

presentation. The speaker for the seminar was Miss. Shraddha Swami. The introduction was

done by Miss. Nivedita Joshi and vote of thanks by Miss. Sangeeta Parkipalli.

Industrial Visit to „Precision‟, Date : 21/09/2015

MBA department organised industrial visit to „Precision‟. The main motive to

organise this visit was to make the students understand the production activities carried in the

organization at the beginning brief introduction was given about the company. Later the

processing of raw material in production unit was explained to our students.

Industrial Visit to „Srujan Industry‟, Date : 21/09/2015

In the visit to Srujan Industry at the start through PPT presentation brief history of

company along with different product were explained. Then the actual manufacturing process

was explained.

Avishkar Participation, Date : 30/12/2015

MBA department students Miss. Tejaswini Sarode and Miss. Nivedita Joshi

participated in Avishkar competition organised by Solapur University and won Second Prize.

Miss. Nivedita Joshi represented it in state level competition on 09/01/2016.

Electro Participation, Date : 06/01/2016 to 11/01/2016

MBA student participated in electro competition organised by „SEDA‟. This help the

student in learning marketing skills. Miss. Shruti Govinde and Miss. Tejaswini Sarode

participated in the event.

a) On 15th

Sept. 2015 a team of 4 students -2 junior and 2 Senior participated in the

intercollegiate elocution competition held at Sangameshwar College, Solapur. Miss.

Shruti Shrikant Yelshit of XI A won the consolation prize. Smt. Jamble Sharda was

the Team Manager for the same.

b) On 22nd

Sept. 2015 Shri. Madhav Pawar was invited to deliver a programme on

„Nakla, Kavita, Vinod’. Smt. Sharada Jamble organized the function for junior

College. Dr. A. S. Halli presided over the function. Shri. G. R. Khaire sir and junior

college teachers contributed to the grand success of the programme.

c) On 24th

Sept. 2015 Shri. Devarreddy Hanumant Vyankatesh of D.A.V. Junior College

participated in the intercollegiate singing competition organized by Dept. of Hindi.

D.B.F. Dayanand college of Arts and Science, Solapur and won the second prize. He

was guided by Smt. Aajansondkar V. S.
