    Introduction

    La Prenza Dam, the main fous of this -ro-osal, has been used as

    irriation for the water that flows diretl# from mountain rane of &ierra Madre to

    su--ort not onl# for the town of Marilao but also for the ad*aent towns of $oaue and

    &ta. Maria. "t has also served as a rereational and fishin site even to nearb#

    ommoners. A lot of stories of love had also ha--ened in this -lae/ but a lot of lives

    have also been ta+en awa# due to the neliene in their -art. "t is also the 0121

    ommunal irriation s#stem/ serves as a he+ ate to -revent water overflow from

    destro#in rie ro-s in the area.

    "t is also a ombination of a ravit#3t#-e dam and a s-illwa#. Gravit# dams

    are dams that are onstruted to hold ba+ water usin onl# their own weiht. To do

    this, the# are onstruted usin e4tensive amounts of onrete, ma+in them diffiult

    and e4-ensive to build. A s-illwa# is a setion of a dam desined to -ass water from the

    u-stream side of a dam to the downstream side. Man# s-illwa#s have floodates

    desined to ontrol the flow throuh the s-illwa#.

    Amon the im-ortant historial sites in Marilao is the Prenza Dam. 9rom

    the former water reservoir of the !ld Prenza that was finished in 0EE, it has been

    rebuilt and transferred in this site around 7ulo alon Marilao River on 02? was named

    the Prenza Dam. "ts onstrution was led b# Dominian -riests, alon with the hel- of

    farmers and the loal atherers of adobe 5volani tuff6, whih was in turn used as a

    main material for the said dam.

    "t has also been destro#ed b# t#-hoon and flood on the #ears of 01F@,

    01F2, and 01E2, destro#in the Arhed Canal on its delta. "t was rebuilt throuh the *oint

    efforts of the towns of Marilao, $oaue and &ta. Maria and the 'nion of farmers of

    Prenza one of its areta+ers.

    "t has been re3established on A-ril ?0, ?@@2, alon the ?0? th elebration

    the foundation of the town of Marilao.

    Lon before T#-hoon !ndo# devastated ma*or -arts of Luzon durin the

    last 8uarter of ?@@1, the Prenza Dam 5loated at Prenza "", Marilao, $ulaan6 has been
