I'd like to tell you about CV+.

CV+ has two key functions; a CV builder and a Wall to showcase the details of the content stated on the CV. The wall is an interactive area where users can add photos, videos, sound clips, web links and documents to showcase themselves; anything and everything that demonstrates what they're into, what they're good at and what they want.

What's more, it's completely free to use the CV+ website!

Research shows us that the earlier we ask children to engage in what they like and lay plans, the more motivation rises, focus sets in, progress gathers pace and well-being improves. However, tailored career guidance sessions for each child are not feasible in most schools. We need to ask young people to be their own guides, to ignite a sense of excitement for the workplace and to insist that they urgently pursue their goals.

We've built CV+ to do just this. We created all of the resources you'll need to run a CV+ workshop in your school. These resources will introduce your teachers and pupils to this brilliant tool, guide pupils through their first CV creation and begin them in the process of recording their interests, skills, achievements and experiences, ready for job applications.

What's more it's completely free to use the CV+ resources!

We don't want to see a lack of confidence or knowledge compromise opportunities and adventures for young people anymore. There is no reason why every young individual cannot be a happy, valuable and powerful professional person.

TAKE A LOOK AT THE CV BUILDER AND THE WALL. THESE ARE THE TWO KEY FUNCTIONS OF CV+.

CV+ is a website. Today, it has 2 main functions.

A CV Builder. This tool guides children and young adults through the process of creating a first CV, including useful tips and a manageable ‘bitesized’ process.

A Wall. This is an area where the user can showcase the facts stated in the CV in an engaging way. The user can write text, upload images and video, add links to relevant websites or documents and quote positive relevant sources.

We describe the wall as an ‘online journal’. This chronological timeline showcases the user’s achievements, interests, skills and experiences in a visually engaging and satisfying way.

We hope that the functionality on offer in CV+ will inspire the user to create content and begin to engage in the merit of his or her interests and activity away from the classroom, as well as in it.

We want CV+ to encourage engagement with self promotion, creative thinking about presenting personality and a linking up of natural interests with suitable industries and career paths for the future.

THE WALL

THE WALL ACTS AS A SUPPORT TO THE INFORMATION IN THE CV, HOUSING POSTS WHICH CAN BE SELECTED TO EXPAND IN FULL. THE USER CAN THEN CONVERT THE POST TO PDF AND PRINT OR EMAIL IT!

WE NEED YOUR COMMENTS

On each page of the CV+ site, there is a vertical Feedback tab located on the right hand side of the web page.

Feedback is a crucial part of testing CV+ in your school. Receiving your feedback means that we improve the site for pupils and teachers, and help young people to pursue the right opportunities for them with confidence, and better self promotion.

When the feedback tab is clicked, a message box appears. Please do take the time to jot down any observations or suggestions you might have. Tell us what you think of the words we've used, or colours you like, ideas you might have or simply suggestions to make the site easier to use.

Maybe we've added things which don't make sense, or put things in silly places? Or you might see a way of doing or describing something which you know your pupils would prefer. Be as brutal, as trivial, as complimentary or as detailed as you like! Then simply click 'Send' and we will be able to read your vital feedback and make the changes you want to see.

Summary CV Layout for Younger Users

WE REALISE that for many of our young users, a full and detailed CV template might look a bit empty. Although we are resolutely not a CV template and design service, we want to provide an important option for our younger users. With that in mind, we’ve developed this great layout, which accents smaller amounts of information and draws attention thanks to its centred design.

Idea Generator SOME YOUNG PEOPLE will relish the opportunity to use a range of media, get creative in how they present themselves and, also, begin to understand self-marketing. Meanwhile, others will struggle to get started and to think of suitable content, so we have lots of prompts up our sleeve to help...

SAFETY & PRIVACYPrivacy online is a worry for all of us, and we entirely understand the sensitivities around safely collecting and sharing information, especially CV details which, by their very nature, are designed to be disseminated.

WE PROVIDE ACCESS TO ALL THE RELEVANT DOCUMENTS YOU MIGHT LIKE TO READ WHEN CONSIDERING USING CV+ IN YOUR SCHOOL, IN THE FOOTER ON THE CV+ SITE.

At present, CV+ is not a network. We give users the ability to share information by saving wall posts and emailing or sending them to who they choose. It’s not possible for users to search each other and find and view each other’s content. However, we hope that CV+ is so well received that we can grow the concept and create a network for our users which leads them to new, interesting and exciting opportunities outside of CV+. For this function to be enabled, recorded information around individual’s skills and education will need to be used in order for useful and relevant information to appear to the individual users.

We are some way off this being possible, but we are passionate about working to grow our concept. At each point that we expand or change, we will inform every account holder of any planned changes to CV+ which may affect them, giving them the option to close their account.

If there are any concerns on the misuse of data, CV+ aim to be completely transparent and helpful.

We aim to gift young people with a powerful tool to better present themselves appropriately online; CV+ will never ask users for sensitive personal information, because sensitive personal information should never be required for the fair-winning of a job opportunity.

We take security of data, privacy and child protection very seriously:

We provide access to all the relevant documents you might like to read when considering using CV+ in your school, in the footer on the CV+ site. We are committed to protecting and respecting the privacy of our users. We comply fully with the Data Protection Act 1998.
